Hello Suicide Server. Im gettin maschine in few days and realise that Im gonna have similar setup (and music) as you have. Maschine + Massive + 303 but in my case audiorealism bassline v2. Would you be so kind and write me some details how you handle massive while playing live? I have kore2 system as well but dont want to carry the controller, cos parties are usually wild and dont want to break it, so instead I'll map some knobs to Novation Remote Zero SL controler which i use with ableton while playin live. Do you have Program Change list within Massive and trigger different sounds via PC messages from Live? Thats how I want to do that. BTW the recording u post here is deadly, man. Cheers tom

Ok the way i control Ableton and Phoscyon is with a custom made template. Its actually pretty easy. I just moded the Ableton Template to also control Phoscyon and the Modulation Knobs of Massive. Its pretty easy. I also used the Massive Template for more extensive Control. Only thing is you need to switch from Maschine Mode to Midi Mode quite a lot, so less beer before the gig and more after can really help to realize in which mode you are currently Let me know if you need more help.

u mean custom made template for Maschine? Ok so u have a template for Ableton + 303 and different for Massive all within Maschine, so u just switch btween 3 of them? The massive patch is all the way same or do you use PChange sent from Live?

 

I have moded the Ableton Control Template, so i can switch the clips and also tweak all parameters of Phoscyon at the same time. Within the Template you can also switch the pages so on the next page i have control over massives modulation knobs. If i want full control i just switch from my ableton template to the massive template where you have full control over ableton. If you want i can upload the template sou you can see what i mean. I also made a programm list within massive and with each clip that controls massive i send a program change

So you translated all of these tunes into Maschine projects? That must have been a chore.

How did you move between songs? Did you have multiple instances of Maschine that you switched between?

 

No it was not all that complicated. I did all the drum and beatz stuff on maschine and the synths are coming from ableton live 8, which i controlled from maschine too. I basically made a few groups on maschine and jammed with the patterns, thats it.

I'm really curious how well a pure Maschine live set using multiple instances in Ableton works.

I'm curious how easy it is to transition... or load projects...

i hate having to use some kind of interlude loading music as a work-around.

I suppose it'd be best to turn projects/songs into loops and then just create one massive live project or 2, with each group containing the various parts of each song. hmmm...

 

So what kind of music do you make ? I made everything pattern based and this gig was planed for 30 minutes but because you can sequence maschine while playing life i could have played for hours and hours and create new stuff on the fly. With every instance of Maschine you have 8 groups wiht loads of patterns, so there should be plenty of room for your songs.

 

Well, i do a lot of sample based music. So, I usually have a few groups that are filled with slices, a couple for sounds, and at least 1-2 for drum samples. This way I can easily mute the drums or whatever by muting the drum group.

so if 1 song takes up 5-6 groups, i really need 1 instance per song... or 2 instances (like decks) that i keep loading songs into.

like i said, I could export all my patterns and then build live projects, with like 1 song per group...

i don't play live currently, but i'd like to be able to.

 

so you used MASCHINE in plugin mode or stand alone, sync to Ableton?
