Load bar always in red when it shouldn't be?

Hi there i'm using Traktor 2.6 on a HP Laptop, it runs really well, no dropouts or anything like that and i have it on the minimal latency settings and it runs fine but the load bar is always in the red. I had a problem with my Nvidia graphics card causing latency spikes but i've fixed that and i've used Latency Mon and DPC Latency Checker and they say the laptop is fine, the latency is pretty low and very steady, no spikes.
It doesn't really affect the way i use Traktor but i just find it annoying that the load bar is always in the red, i've used all the optimization tips and have very little installed aside from Traktor, it's a fairly decent laptop, Dual Core Intel, 3 GB RAM, why is the load bar in the red? Any help appreciated, can't find an answer anywhere else!

What is the exact model number of your processor?

    It's an Intel Core 2 Duo T8100

    And your latency settings?

In Traktor or in the latency checkers?

Your sound card latency settings. The number should show up in Traktor settings too.

In Traktor i have the process buffer set to 48, USB buffer is on 1 ms. The overall latency is 5.5 ms.

Increase the process buffer e.g. to 128/256 if you want to reduce the CPU load.

Ok thanks mate, i still don't understand why the load bar is in the red when Traktor is playing perfectly tho! But that does stop it!

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe the Core 2 Duo processor only just meets Traktor's specification requirements, so using the lowest latency setting is absolutely going to send it into the red.

If you had a newer processor like a Core i7, you would be able to use a lower Latency Setting.

For instance, on my Macbook Pro I have a 2.7ghz i7 processor, and I can set my latency to the lowest and the CPU load meter only goes as high as about 25%.

Oh right yeah maybe, the thing is though Traktor still works perfectly with no dropouts even when the load bar is in the red, that's the bit i don't get, the load bar seems to bear little relation to the amount of cpu really being used.

Because there's probably a lot more unnecessary HP based stuff still running that are eating up resources.

Granted it's not the greatest processor but you be surprised how many people are running Core 2 Duo processor on their Traktor laptop.

You can also optimize the computer to improve your performance.

No i've done a clean install of Windows 7 Ultimate, there are no HP programs on there, no internet, wireless disabled, battery settings optimized, it's 100% set up for audio and nothing else. It runs perfectly but Traktor still thinks it's in the red even tho i could mix for hours with no dropouts.

the load bar only reflects the audio engines' load.
