    Hey there,

Just wanted to get the officlal word of whether or not Maschine is supposed to be able to play consistent audio whilst loading samples/instruments into Groups/Pads?

I ask because I was auditioning samples/instruments/kits whilst playing scenes and there are two audible glitches as one begins to load and as the loading is completed. This was in the standalone.

I'm thinking forward to live usage when one might want to be able to load up a kit to switch to in the middle of a live set. The glitching is going to be a problem then.

    Many thanks,

    Alan

Glitching like that I'd think is more system dependent than anything else. While I've noticed it in some cases, it usually happens when I've got a lot of other stuff going on and the system resources are taking a pounding; for example, using it in Kore when I've got a couple of heavy CPU and/or RAM suckers running at the same time.

I second the problem. I run Maschine in standalone, nothing else running on a macbook 2,4ghz 4gb ram, but i also get glitches or sound drops on some sample/instrument/group loads.

Hey Eric... it's not the hugest glitch I've heard but it would be noticeable in a live set.

Having said that, I plan to use Maschine solely for drums and percussion, whilst keeping everything else as audio on Live so maybe it won't be such a problem! (and probably by the time I can afford an Apple laptop they'll have released new speedier ones! :) ).

What I really wanted to know was if smooth audio whilst loading samples was 'part of the spec' (and needs to go down as a fix) or if Maschine wasn't designed to be used this way?

    Thanks,

    Alan

As far as I know, it's supposed to be glitch free for the reasons you've mentioned.

I too get glitching when loading sounds or groups even in standalone

Me too in stand-alone with no cpu load.

On par with his question I would like to know why I can't teirger other scenes and use other instrumets during the far too long wait times it has while loading other kits into a group. For live this creates a standstill. Also, how are we supposed to load up other saved layouts while still continuing to play a previous one. should I tell the audience to " wait while I load the next section of my performance"?

I get this too, and sometimes it even causes serious lag in the software when I load up my own samples to the point where I have to stop play, pause, and then restart to get everything back in sync.

Shouldn't be happening on a G5 with dual processors and plenty of memory.

    Confirmed.

    The same happens here too.

Having playback on while loading an instrument cuts off any long samples.

Short samples, like drums and such play fine.

    I have a Macbook 2.4GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 4GB 1067MHz DDR3 memory, running Maschine 1.0.3.002 on OS X 10.5.7 in standalone mode.

same here. I also am experience quite slow kit loading times as was mentioned in another thread (http://www.native-instruments.com/forum/showthread.php?t=87645)

Using WinXP SP2 on a dual core X2-3200 with 2GB ram. All drives are at least 7200rpm.

I experience this when runnning Maschine as a VSTi and also Standalone.

I experience small audio hiccups too while loading (and unloading) sounds when running Maschine in standalone mode, eventhough the CPU is barely taxed. Using Vista SP1 on Core 2 Quad 2,4 GHz with 2 GB Ram. I wonder if this is a matter of me needing to tweak my system or is Maschines code simply not written (yet) to operate glitch free. However, for me this feature would fall in the category "nice to have" since I'm not playing live anyway, but still...

I get this behavior too, with 4 CPU cores and 10K RPM drives.

Have the same issues on both PC & Mac. Brand new MacPro 2009 with updated 10K RPM HDD. It happens on a factory fresh machine.

Did anyone find a solution to this? I have just installed on a high spec PC, running Maschine through Cubase 5 with no other plugs and an M-Audio Delta 1010 soundcard.

Glitches seem to occur either when loading sounds/fx or simply when using the main pads.

    Any suggestions would be welcome.

I have a similiar problem. I am having a problem with machine and it's after using it for a little while, going back and fourth browsing samples and playing and recording. Browsing for samples using the actual hardware turns out to be a nightmare after a while. It scrolls through the filter hella slow and takes a longer time browsing for samples. I have to shut the software down and restart it again. I notice that that sometimes it uses 400mb to start up... Why ? I noticed I've been having a harder time with it since the 1.5 update. Are you having this problem ?

I can identify atleast 3-4 different scenarios here form the problems people describe, where maschine will produce artefacts and glitches when loading content. And as eric already wrote, this is very much system dependant.
HDD speed (rpm), burst cache, buffer size, memory and of course CPU, especially multicore support when run in a host - and it also depends on the content you try to load. Very complex multilayered kits, like the abbey road will be heavy to load on any system since there are many zones to set for each sample. A 20 minute long file will also produce this kind of overload due to memory consumption.

But - a simple, relatively short sample should be loadable without artefacts. There are internal reports of this and I will link this thread to the report. When adding your +1 here, please let us know 1) system specs 2) use scenario (what sample, how big is the sample, compley layering, in hist etc.)
