    hi guys....

I was working on some music today and suddenly all instrument plug ins from native instruments (battery, kontakt etc.) have disappeared. the actual software is still available in logic, but the files of instruments have all disappeared from the library,

on battery 3 i receive this message ........
Your library directory setting seems to be wrong!
You can correct it in the options dialog!

have i accidentally deleted my library of instruments? if i try to load an old song which used these instrumetns i receive a message saying 'samples missing'...is there something i've done by mistake?

try going into preferences in Logic and AU Manager and try re-scanning your plugins. and re-open Logic and see if that works.

hi mate, thanks for replying. i already tried that with no luck......i wonder if there's another simple solution im missing?

otherwise, i've backed up everything on an external hd, would there be a way of finding the libraries again from my external hd

yea. open up kontakt and go into preferences and under library set the path to the location your libraries are located. and then hit re-scan. if their on your external, make sure your external is plugged in and select the correct path to it. same thing goes for battery. just set the correct path to where you have all your libraries/kits located and scan that. and that should do the trick. let us know how it goes..

the only stuff i would recommend transferring to your external hd are all your kontakt libraries/battery drum kits. You want all the programs still installed on your main computer. I would just make 1 folder on your external and label it like "Libraries" or "Kontakt Libraries" and move all your libraries to that folder. and make sure they are all on your external before you delete em off your computer. If you wanna make sure.. move all the stuff you want to back up to your external. and then delete them from your computer. But before you empty your trashcan on your computer, try loading up kontakt and battery and making sure you can access everything you transferred to your external. If that works and everything loads up fine..then go ahead and empty your trash can and delete em for good off your computer. For future installs..if you have your external plugged in.when you go to open the factory installer [lets say you bought a new library/instrument down the road..] it will give you the choice of installing the content on your main hd{computer} or the external hd [thats plugged in].
