this only works with VSTs - it works in Ableton for instance.

it does not work with AUs, so it won't work in Logic.

this is a Logic AU limitation nothing to do with Komplete Kontrol.

it works in DAWs where MIDI can pass from one plugin to another one - Ableton Live, Pro Tools, Cubase, Reaper a.o.

I feel that Apple missed an opportunity in not addressing this issue and limitation with Logic. What's more, I'd really like to be able to use their Midi-Effects (such as the Arpeggiator) within Maschine or the S-Series.

There's always a chance (and I use the term lightly) that NI would be kind enough to create an extremely basic MIDI FX Plugin of Komplete Kontrol that would act as the bridge to enable MIDI output of the chords and arp notes. I currently use MIDI FX Freeze in conjunction with the Numerology 4, Cthulu, etc. to extract the MIDI data. Cheers.

Good idea...obviously, I'd like to avoid the monkey work if possible. There are work arounds, but they usually cut the creative flow of the moment, at least for me.

Yeah I'm not big on any of the workarounds. I try to avoid any use of the IAC bus as a means to pipe in MIDI–the latency alone isn't worth it.

Sidenote: I was just as bummed as you were when discovering I couldn't obtain the full MIDI note output in Logic. While I was well aware of the AU MIDI limitation, I made the (foolish) assumption that the Komplete Keyboard internal hardware processed the MIDI prior to sending it to the host, as is seen in a few other MIDI keyboard. That's not a shot at NI, merely an oversight on my part. I'm still happy with the keyboard, despite the seemingly bug-plagued software.

fwiw, i also want a Reaktor MIDI version of the plugin, so I could use it as a MIDI FX in Logic X.

Good to know I'm not the only one missing that functionality...and glad you're happy with the keyboard. It seems like N.I. is investing in its future which is encouraging.
