    hello

i keep seeing different versions of maschine out including the new 1.7

if I buy a maschine 1.5 with controller off somone on ebay can I upgrade to 1.7 effectivly saving a bit of money over paying full whack for a new one

its a little too much for me at the moment

basically is it like a software update

    thanks

Yes it's a free upgrade. Make sure that the seller on eBay is prepared to tell NI about 'transfer of ownership'. Also make sure that they haven't got an educational version of Maschine, or they won't be able to transfer the serial to you at all.

Won my Maschine on eBay about 2 weeks ago (for the price of a Maschine Mikro even!), it showed up last week. Disc that came with it was 1.5, I updated to 1.6 immediately, and to 1.7.1 last night. L_p is right about things to look out for, as long as your seller is legit, you'll be fine. NI was super helpful to me with the serial/acct transfer process.

Pull the trigger, you're gonna love it.

    cool chrs for the feedback!
    ---
this is prolly a silly question - i always go by if its too good to be true it is, has anyone ever brought anything from the USA i.e. maschine to use in the UK

its a lot cheaper - you shouldnt get stung with any duty or tax as its under the threshold

a unit is about GBP350.00 plus shipping

You may well get stung for duty and tax as the threshold is about £20
    ---
    edit: from HMRC:

    All other goods
    -----------------
If you order or send purchased goods other than alcohol, tobacco, perfume and toilet water from a country outside the EU then you:
don't have to pay Excise Duty
may have to pay Customs Duty on goods with a value that exceeds £135
will have to pay Import VAT on goods with a value that exceeds £18
Note that on all goods from outside the EU, Customs Duty is waived if the amount of duty calculated is £9 or under.

So, you'll be talking 20% VAT + customs duty:

Custom Duty rates for specific products
    ----------------------------------------------
Customs Duty is charged as a percentage of the total value of the goods - that is the sterling equivalent of the price paid abroad.
To work out the percentage, each type of product is given a 'commodity code'. This tells you what the Customs Duty rate percentage is for that particular product, based on whether it's being imported or exported.
There are around 14,000 different classifications. The duty rate percentage for each may vary according to the country the goods come from. The average percentage is between 5 and 9 per cent, but it can be as low as 0 per cent or as high as 85 per cent.
To find out the Customs Duty rate for a product you can contact HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) VAT, Customs and Excise Helpline. See the later section 'Getting more help and advice' below.

some one want to clarify what toilet water is?

@doc, your sepcs may not be best suited for low latency production as i think they meet the bare minimum

please don't buy Maschine and then complain about the features it doesn't have like time stretch. research its limitations first.
