    Hey, Sample-hounds!

I was wondering if anyone knew where one could get a sample of a large group handclap (a la Gospel Choir, without the singing). I've been looking for awhile, but haven't come across anything like it.

    Thanks,

That would be great to have. If anyone finds it, please post here!

My only thought off the top of my head might be Ilio's Symphony of Voices -- obviously an expensive library. I don't know for sure if they have it, but they might.

I wish I had the time to gather a bunch of people to sample that kind of sound well! Maybe after I get my new studio built!

Just an idea, but wouldn't it also work to record several versions of yourself or a friend clapping and adding the appropriate reverb in the end? They'd have to be seperate recodings of course, to avoid phasing, but I think it'd sound very much like the 'real' thing.

I got Spectrasonics' Stylus and it has a whole bank of claps of different sizes. A couple of them sound like what you're looking for.

Of course, I can't sample it for you. )-: But it's a great instrument to have...

Thanks for your help, everyone. Seems that the group-handclap sample IS hard to come by!

Mark JX8P - I was thinking of trying to make my own - that's a good idea, probably the best. I'm not going to by an entire library just to get the effect.

If I get around to doing it, I'll post it for anyone who's interested.

    Thanks again.

Since this is a forum of people that sample, you could ask for anyone who is willing to send in their favorite (non-copyrighted) claps and then put them alltogether with a little reverb. That should do the trick. Also, i've noticed that hand claps are frequently among the free samples on the internet so there should be lots to build from.
    Just an idea...

Yeah, there are TONS of handclaps out there, but always individual or electronic sounding. I've done exhaustive searching on the net, but I always hear the same clap sounds - nothing that really sounds like a big group of people.

I'm sure that I would be able to 'maufacture' one myself; I was just hoping someone else had already done it. I'm sure it would take awhile to trial-and-error it until it sounds right. You're right though; if I layer some samples and put a verb on it, should do the trick.

Incidentally, the excact sound I'm looking for can be found in Enigma's song, "Return to Innocence"; I think near the end you can hear it.

    Thanks for your help,

Just wanted to thank everyone for their help. I guess I'll be stitching together a custom sample at some point. I'll post it for all who are interested (if it sounds half-decent!).

    Thanks,

    Success?

For anyone who's interested, I tried to make a fake group-clap instrument. It seems to work pretty well. I told everyone I'd share, so here goes:

    Groupclap.nki

Enjoy. Please let me know if you find the real thing, this one still sounds a little fake.

Ha ha! Great, thanks! Did these guys get a hold of Queen's original tapes?

    Thanks a million, Ronny.

Sorry for the delay pal but it took NI 10 days to issue me with a new password. Pissed me off and the site is so slow.
Anyways pal, if you email me directly at samplecraze@btclick.com , I will send you a whole folder of claps off my drumm cd . What is your email capacity and are you on broadband pal?
Failing that I have created the DRUMM cd in kontakt format and you can download some freebies off my site http://www.samplecraze.com. hope you guys like it and feedback, as always, is crucial for me. Thnx for the plug guys.

    Bduffy, email me m8.
