now that 5 is out, it seems like NI are leaving 4 owners in the lurch. unimpressed by komplete 6 (and lacking the income) i have no plans to upgrade although this leaves me to suffer with no envelope cursor under 4.0.5 in leopard

oct 2007 - leopard released, cursor broken
mar 2008 - cursor fix doesn't make it into 4.0.5
    sep 2009 - absynth 5 announced

so it would seem that in the intervening 18 months no-one on the abysnth team took the time to fix this small but significant issue in 4.0.5. now that 5 is out i suppose we are all obliged to part with hard-earned cash in order to fix an issue that should've been fixed at some point during 2008. obliging users to pay to fix a developer's errors is the kind of tactics that i would expect from the microsoft's of this world

in case anyone's wondering, the timing of this complaint comes from me just looking into the above timeline and realising i had been hung-out to dry. if this is NI's attitude then i wonder why i might want to give them any more of my money in the future

if anyone could suggest a more formal way of complaining to NI then i will be keen to hear it

    disgruntled

Yeah, this is a sort of shame...

I have no problems with AB4 so far, only a few "niggles" (the percent-sign after BPM in the PlugIn-Version for example or some graphic faults; but this is maybe Cubasen's fault, not Absynths)...

But the new features sound interesting, indeed...

(Excuse my bad English, plz :) )

    Stay tuned...

Well, at least they should provide an updated installed for Snow Leopard ... this OS was released before the release of Absynth 5 and to me it seems unreasonable that about all current NI products seem cannot be installed ...

    best

Response to what? Will the graphics glitch be fixed? Propbably not. Can you install on Snow Leopard? Yes.

I love absynth, but NI are notorious for not fixing bugs.

remember the hanging notes bug? it was there from verison two and also in verison 3.
there was a long thread about it here. but the bug was simply ignored.

I don't know what happend with version 4 since I didn't upgrade, because imho the upgrade from 3 to 4 was kinda weak. though I will upgrade to 5.

Absynth 4 is sweet...I would like to upgrade to 5 but I might wait until 6 because I am chomping at the bit for Reaktor 6. ;)

    Hi!

I will update to Absynth 5 anyway, since I love the instrument and look forward to trying the new features.

But I must also say, that I'm one of the OSX users that waited for NI to fix Absynth 4 cursor-not-showing-bug for about 2 years and it never came. This wasn't a simple bug, but a feature that was missing from Absynth 4. The whole thing with Absynth is about the envelopes and how complicated stuff you can do with them. And now when the cursor wasn't there, you couldn't go nearly as far with this, since you were kinda blind to your changes...

So, even if this doesn't concern me anymore and I've truly enjoyed my Absynth 4 -experience in all the other aspects while I've had it, it's a bit of a shame that this kind of a bug doesn't get fixed even though it is known. Well, it was fixed as I understood it, but never released. This isn't the way to get happy customers...

i would've liked to have got into absynth more, but due to the cursor issue, my hands were somewhat tied. i suppose NI could say that no-one forced me to upgrade to leopard, but if people applied that logic to absynth 5 they might see company profits take a nose dive!

can anyone confirm if the cursor issue IS fixed in absynth 5?
