Can you think of a way to similarly do this in Maschine?

If not, can you think of a way to do this in Live from the Maschine controller?

If not, can you think of a way to do this in any DAW from the Maschine controller?

There is a slightly dodgy way to loop record audio in Maschine, which involves sync sampling with a pattern already prepared to trigger it i.e., a note event on the 1st beat and the respective root note. However, this used to leave a pattern gap between the end of the recording and the start/triggering of the recording, which is less than ideal. Plus, it requires you to know how long you want your pattern to be prior to recording (though I suppose that's the same as with note event recording anyway in Maschine). Also, Maschine does not have realtime timestretch.

I do this in Live with Maschine as a plugin, which is a much better option (as this is what Live is designed to do). Plus, with a little setting up, you can do this from the Maschine plugin and controller in control mode. You could obviously use a Live template for the Maschine controller in MIDI mode, which might suit you better, but I like everything in one place when possible.

Essentially, you just have to send MIDI from Maschine to a track in Live, which sends the MIDI out to a MIDI loopback device which is configured as both track output and remote input in Live's preferences. You can then map Maschine's MIDI output to session view clips (and/or any other MIDO controllable parameter, so you can sequencer effects, for example, this way). This becomes even more powerful if you either use some MIDI plugin tools on the Maschine MIDI output prior to the loopback or Bome's in the signal path. But that's not necessary to just trigger clips.
