    Hi
I play in an experimental duet combo. We are wondering if Guitar Rig can be looped outside of a Host program when used as a VST. We use Ableton's Live 6 for our basic DAW platform when playing. I understand (no I don't, but I'd like to think I do!) that the program represents a surface level or virtual modeler but was wonder if I can actually get what you hear out of Live and into a pair of EDPs for looping. We have been trying but it seems as though all we can get "through" is the straight guitar tone. Please help us to definitively understand whether this is even possible. Thanks a million.

There has to be a way. Can you route the master output back to another track with GR on there, and send that to a seperate output bus?

    We Really Tried

We tried everything that we could think of today. He has a Motu ultralite and Macbook Pro. I tried every form of cross mixer busing I could think of. We did attempt what you suggest as that is what would seem like it should work but because the the plug in (Guitar Rig) is designed to record a clean signal and then apply it's effects in a mask like sense, it just passes the clean signal across everything but the master out of the host. I tried the send and return approach as well as sub hosting the plug in in a different track. I tried every extension track out option I could think of, ie post, pre, etc. It seems silly to make such a killer effects rack and then not be able to record or bus the processed signal but that appears to be the case. Man, does this rack set up ever sound GREAT. See, if all you wanted to do was to loop the guitar signal externally, you could just use the master out via routing or resampling, but when you have 3-4 guitar signal processes all happening in the same host as the plugin resides within, you can't seem to "break it off" to isolate just the guitar rig like the rest of the processed signal options. What a drag eh?

What about a physical loop cable -- send the outs of the GR track back into another channel.

Well, because we are using EDPs which are a hardware looper you pretty much have to take that path and try the different angles because you are limited to that approach. I sure appreciate your interest. If you come up with anything please let me know as by far this is the best sounding software guitar signal processor I have yet to hear.

Ah, I see. I didn't understand that EDPs were hardware based units. I'll see if I can get you other help.
