Have any of you experienced inconsistent-feeling encoders on your MK3? The 6th encoder from the right (in the row of 8) is loose compared to all the others. Brand new MK3. Stuff like this annoys me a bit with NI's quality control.

What do you mean loose? Does the encoder cap came off too easily or does it wiggle around?

I really thought they'd sorted this with the Mk3 (it was a problem across Mk1, Mk2, and maybe even Studio). All the units I've tried have had pretty uniform resistance across all the knobs. Might be worth asking your retailer for an exchange.

I have exactly the same problem. The second encoder (from the left) is loose. It works fine, but it felt a bit weird and has a little (friction?) sound –I believe, because of the looseness–. Does anyone know how to proceed?

So it's lack of resistance to rotation right? Not a loose plastic cap issue correct?
If it bothers you then return the unit and get a new one.

Exactly, a lack of resistance. Well, maybe the plastic is a bit loose because I can move the encoder a bit.
The thing is I bough it in November and I'm thinking in selling it. I don't think it is a big deal but maybe for the buyer?
    Nevertheless, thank you!

If you bought it in November your warranty should cover it, call the store where you bought it to know how to proceed to get it fixed or exchanged for a new one... Otherwise, it loses some value on the used market because of the defect.

I feel like they loosen up as you use them... my first few on the left seem to be looser than the last few on the right because I use them more often for selecting start / end points in samples and things.

I see. All right. I decided not to sell it at the end because I found a way to integrate it in my workflow using logic. I think the looseness is not a big deal if the knob works fine.

Can't believe this is still happening in 2019, I have a komplete kontrol mk1 with this issue, I tried 3 different units until I gave up and decided to put up with this. Today I'm buying a Maschine mk3, hopefully I get lucky and get a unit with proper encoders. NI should find another provider for their knobs, it's irritating to buy a expensive midi controller with this kind of issues.

On my studio it's second one but not a big deal really...

my mk1 is beyond consistent on every 1 of 11 - still :D , all the same resistance and all perfect every turn

this is not me bagging on mk3 btw, it is just for measure and i just see above somebody said it was an issue on mk1 - not here

i have ja deja vu, with this thread. and i will give the same response: of course not every unit is perfect. but the maschine mk3 that i have is flawless.
i have the idea, via fora, but i can be wrong, that the problem with resistance is more common with push 2 than maschine mk3. but, again, that is not scientific, or academic research....
i have a push 2 with 2 encoders, with resistance, and both have a different resistance. i called the supplier and looked around fora, and it is known problem. perhaps with the maschine also... but there are plenty messages about the software, but this problem does not seem to as big....
i didn't return the push 2, because, you can try 2 or 3 times, and you have different encoders, with resistance. they don't jump the parameters...
and i am right, it will not develop into a big problem. i have bcr 2000 with some encoders, with resistance, for years and years, and it was already second hand, and used... it still works perfectly...

but if it bothers you, which i can imagine, try another unit. it is a defect.
