Why does this happen - when I tag FLAC or ALAC files and import them into my traktor track collection it puts the artist and track name in the track column and nothing in the artist column yet in itunes and songbird it shows up the way I have tragged it - artist in artist column, track name in track name column. What wrong with TS - please fix it. I put a lot of effort into organizing my collection. Incidentally when using the Itunes menu inside TS the tags show up properly - however this doesn't allow me the functionality to analyse etc.

There's also seems to be a problem with this forum. Everytime I move the mouse whilst writing and then type again it doesn't work and i get the error noise until i click the side panel of the web page and then i can resume typing? What's that all about...this is the only site that it happens with.

try triggering a consistency check to see what happens. this will theoretically read your files' tags and update the freshest data into the traktor collection.

Tried it, didn't make a difference unfortunately. Traktor and lossless tags seems to be permanently problematic :(

Well traktor 2 is out and the problem is still the same. I use songbird to tag my files with. The tags show up in vlc, itunes, every piece of software I throw at them...just not in traktor.

What it does is display the 'artist' tag in the same column as the track name which is a complete. It works fine with mp3 files. What's the deal with it?

Also if I update a tag and rescan it or whatever traktor calls it, it works with mp3 files but not with flac.

What has traktor got against FLAC? lol Must be an easy fix if every other developer can do it. Interestingly Apple Lossless works great just like mp3s...hmmm.

What you see is the file name apparently, instead of the tag content. In what part/node of the traktor tree are you looking? Is it within the traktor collection? through traktor's explorer? Through iTunes node?

Yes, i'm with you here. I use iTunes to manage my music collection. I began using flac because of the improvement in audio quality, however it started to become a pain to manage two separate collections, one for flac only and another in iTunes.

So i started to test apple lossless, since it has the same attributes as flac, but moreover it is compatible with iTunes. It appears to work fine, at least for me using v 2.03. However (big HOWEVER...) traktor gives no official support to ALAC.

This is something that i understand as 'be aware of' possible inconsistencies and or weird behaviours.

I must confess for me it works flawlessly in terms of files reproduction and work with them (catching, loops, etc..) but, in some of them the bitrate shows as 1000, 800, ... and others, as 0. Usually files that used the container m4a, always showed 0kbps. Now it does sometimes, and sometimes not... weird.

And what happens to a friend of mine, who works with v 1.27, trying to load ALAC files triggers an instant crash in traktor. He is using a mac like i do.

More issues may appear in different plattforms, for example using windows.

So to summarize... Using alac nowadays is at our own risk. Anything can happen. I do and actually have no real problems, but i would like NI to take part on it and make an official statement about what's the current status of apple lossless files use in Traktor, further than saying 'It's not supported'. Like, for example, stating if there are plans to provide support or not -let's remind that they claim Traktor is iTunes compatible-, when is the expected time for this to happen, etc....
