Hi. I'm new to MIDI and am having a hell of a time getting my gear/software to talk to each other properly. I'm hoping someone here can help.

I have a yamaha keyboard, a midi-usb converter (m-audio midisport), and an m-audio trigger finger. My ideal setup would be to have the keyboard go through the midi-usb converter to drive the B4ii keyboard, and use the trigger finger's sliders and knobs to adjust the volume, and other controls for the fx. So far i've been able to get the keyboard to communicate with b4, but I can't seem to get the trigger finger to do it. Both USB audio devices appear in the MIDI tab of the Audio/Midi setup, but even with just the trigger connected, there is no response from the b4 software.

I've tried using learn mode. I've tried using m-audio enigma. Nothing's worked.

I'm using Asio4All to connect the keyboard which works fine.

I don't know what to try or what could be wrong. Any suggestions?

    Hello,

I dont have or know what trigger finger is. But I've noticed that in Guitar Rig by Native Instruments and other programs sometimes you need to 'create' a midi item.... then assign it. Pro Tools works the same way.

This may not be your case though since you can see both of them. Be sure to click the 'on-off' to 'on' next to them within the B4 program - -- that one got me a few times.

You may be asking alot of a simple USB converter.... Your not linking then together are you? (one going thru the other) I know 'USB Hubs' are a no-no.... Be sure each has its own direct USB plug.

Thats all I've got I'm afriad..

Thanks for the info. The trigger finger is a touch sensitive midi controller with 16 pads, 8 knobs, and 4 faders. http://www.m-audio.ca/products/en_ca/TriggerFinger.html for more info.

I've got both instruments going in through different USB inputs, no hub involved. They are turned on in the midi settings, but I get no response from B4. I've updated drivers, but that hasn't worked.

    Any other suggestions?

I'd say its time to look the other way then... culpret may be the Triggerfinger. Hook it directly up to your Yamaha to ensure its working OK... also swap your midi & usb cables / make sure theres no issues there

So now I see this is a drum controller.... its really designed
for multi mapped voices.... you have little gain in conjunction with an organ patch, I'd sooner want a foot controller to control leslie swells

I know the extra knobs would be nice but why wont your Yamaha provide the same contoller fuctions and more?

If you must have a third controller I'd look at these, each has a different 'target' area of control ( including a drum model as you already own )

Well thats it for me.... good luck!
