    Hi All,

Attached is my 3 deck TSI for the X-Session Pro. A great piece of kit for the price but definitely geared towards two decks. Once I got mixing again, I wanted that third one! A two-page explanation PDF is included in the zip along with the TSI.

WARNING: Not for serious DJs who want active contol of all decks simultaneously or for those using timecode equipment. Read the PDF and you'll see what I mean. Give it a go, I've been using it for a while and am at the stage where I don't need to touch the mouse or keyboard for the entire duration of a mix, just the X-Session Pro. Nice.

    Enjoy!

    Ben

    Revision..!

Just noticed I may have included an older version of the TSI. Fooled by the modified date!

If any functions don't seem to work, try this one - just re-saved it...

    Version 1.1

Spent the day mixing some tunes with less linear BPMs. I've made a minor amendment to the TSI, flipping the shift functions on the crossfader curve slider. This allows track nudges to be made while the shift key for the pitch control is being held. Previously, holding the pitch's shift control and nudging caused a seek through the track.

The PDF has been updated, both can be found attached.

What about a simpler two deck template?

    Two decks

    Hi,

Thanks for the reply. There are many two deck templates available as that is the standard setup for this mixer. By having a deck map and shift butons on my TSI, we massively increase the functionality of the mixer as otherwise there are very few buttons to work with if we dedicated the existing controls to two decks. That's not to say there's anything wrong in that, just that I wanted a way of using three decks and getting some additional features such as a library browse and kill switches on the mixer. Using the same deck map across two rather than three decks doesn't really simplify things, rather I would end up making things more complicated as that would give me an extra shift button!

Have a little search on this forum for 'x-session pro' and 'xsession pro' and you should get a good selection of TSIs for two decks.

Enjoy your mixing. I'm new to this USB mixer lark and am greatly impressed by the ability to mix straight out of my library rather than having to burn discs as I was doing with my CDs. It was so annoying, I stopped mixing for a few years and just used MixMeister (a kind of DJ sequencer).

A two deck TSI is definitely a good place to start.

    Regards,

    Ben.

I did search for it, but didn't find anything good.
The only good post with a mapping option for the XSP is this one, but its 3 decks.

I made a pretty decent job at creating a 100% mouseless template for Ableton with the XSP, but I had to use Bome's (MIDI translator) to be able to browse and load clips.

I already started creating my own mapping and I think its about 60% done. I don't want a 100% ready template to load and use, I'm all about customization, making it the way I want it. I really wanted some ideas for the FX mapping, cuz, since I come from Ableton I'm a little confused.

BTW: how did u manage to use 3 and not 4 decks? I Cuz if you are working with focus - and not actions directly to A or B - u can apply the same methods to control 3 decks to control 4.

    Hi,

Just had a browse and found the following forum post (the first TSI posted in the thread) is a good starting point for the X-Session as it maps the two decks' controls close to how the mixer has been labelled by M-Audio (note the change to the monitor buttons though - now sync):

    http://www.native-instruments.com/forum/showthread.php?t=76464&highlight=xsession+pro

If you're looking to map yourself, SHIFT buttons are the key to extra functionality. As I'm not fussed about using four decks I figured using one of the buttons in the map as an additional SHIFT. Having the SHIFT button within the map itself is also nice and convenient for switching between decks as it can be done with one hand.

SHIFT buttons effectively double up your functionality. If you want to make a mouseless template, using at least one will probably be essential as the X-Session Pro has a limited number of controls when compared with a USB device at two or three times the price.

Buttons can also be assigned more than one function to take place when pressed. In my map, I enable the monitor on an activated deck when focus is changed, for example.

    Good luck!

    Ben.
