Not having any luck getting ANY Spitfire libraries to load in Komplete Kontrol on my new M1 Mac Mini :( (they are all listed, but give an error #1 when trying to load them). I am able to load them directly in Logic Pro (not via KK)

Some other non-Komplete libraries are loading okay in KK (albeit in a big mess), but maybe that's because they're Kontakt-based?

Anyway, would love to hear if there are any workarounds for loading Spitfire libraries in Komplete Kontrol on an M1 Mac! Thanks!

P.S. -- Yes, I also just asked the Spitfire folks, but I'm un-optimistic I'll hear back before Monday, since it's Friday night :(

    Updated to add:
After 5+ hours of futzing around, I finally came across this Spitfire Audio knowledgebase article, and now I have Spitfire libraries working in KK (and KK in Logic Pro).

    In a nutshell:
    1. Run the Spitfire Audio app in Rosetta mode
    2. Reinstall all Spitfire libraries
    3. Rescan libraries in KK
    Whew.

Thank you so much for going through the effort in all this painful troubleshooting! I'm in the process of looking at upgrading my laptop from a 2012 MacBook Pro to the new M1 MacBook Pro, and that's my biggest concern is compatibility with all this stuff.

I'm still curious about RAM usage. How have things been with 8GB versus 16GB?? Which version do you have?

    Hi there beshagpoor,

I have the 16gb M1 Mini, and alas, I haven't really stress tested audio stuff because my compositioning so far does tend to be lighter in scope.

One idea for you is to grab a Macbook from a place that has a reasonable return policy; Costco's is 30 days, I think, but maybe they only have the 8gb versions still?

This is offtopic here, but I have an 8GB MacBook Air, so I guess I can share some experience. My personal advice is try to get the 16GB version if you can. Not specifically for music production, but in general, this is not quite enough for heavier workloads, and I had to reboot my laptop a few times because of "Out of application memory" popups. I frankly thought this type of stuff was left in 32 bit times, but no.

More generally, I just wouldn't advise using M1 for any real production tasks ATM, it's just a bit too buggy (yet). You may notice that almost all the glaring reviews you see show the same programs all the time.

It's also not quite true that it's faster than competition. Not false either. :) I mean, it really depends on tasks you need it to do. In my experience, it shines where multiple cores are needed and software manages it well. Not so much when you need a single core to perform some heavy lifting. To be fair, it's been very efficient with DAWs for me, Ableton, Studio One and Maschine. When it works. Some plugins (namely, Kazrog True Iron) caused my DAWs to crash more than once.

Compatibility is a real issue. Massive X is of course an obvious example. But there are more things that don't work.

Not that it's unusable or anything of the sort. Just a pain in the butt at times. And, as usual, your mileage may vary greatly. Of course, battery life is great, it's quiet, cool, all of that is true. And right now it's also cheap-ish (I personally got one because it cost half of what a similarly performing PC would have cost me, or so I thought). And maybe it'll work just fine for you, as it does for many people. But if you depend on it, I think it's worth waiting a bit.
