..given the lower power consumption of the M1 Mac mini, and
im envisaging native instruments will inevitably sort out the native compatibility of the Macos regarding its hardware and software...
given this will come as time goes forward...
im also envisaging a pseudo M1 Mac mini, with a mk2&Jam connected via usb...

my question is regarding the use of a Tablet(ipad) to connect via hdmi port... has anyone tried to use the IPAD as a monitor for direct bootup??
is this possible via a lightening/USB-C to hdmi type connection.

As this would become a pseudo Maschine+ alternative if its possible, especially the given the low power consumption of the M1
i'd love to get some input on whethers its even possible and/or where the issues would exist in trying to make everything portable... advantages and disadvantages
(it goes without saying a battery supply would be required to keep the m1 powered)

I will recommend you go the macbook route or ditch NI and go full iPad pro.
Solutions for iPad screening are (sidecar, luna display...) but Apple Silicon and NI aren’t a good combo and investing now on that approach will be deceptive IMO.
Analyze if you are NI ecosystem dependant or not and build an strategy. IMO NI is going too slow in this paradigm shift and maybe it goes bankurrupt or change totally its revenue model (subs, cheaper hardware) since M+ was a bet from the past (pre-layd off) and it seems beaurecracy is still hard (if not even more) under Francisco Partners so adaptability is in question.
I will wait a year until Apple Silicon transiton ends to see how well NI did...

hmmm yea, i hear where you are coming from...
i dont believe for a second NI are dragging their feet on this one, NI wanting to stay ahead of the curve is probably in their best interest before pursuing hardware developments...
its certainly a pity they didnt envisage the impact the M1 has had on peoples perceptions, cos they mightve done better with a M1 inside the maschine+ or better still went with improving the software functionality with existing hardware... and looked further a field at other options in the audio consumer market to tap into.... and perhaps making a modified maschine jam2 to complement existing hardware.. *shrugs

    anyway!!

i was looking toward a portable working setup utilising the m1... Cos with the current hardware i have accumulated, like many others out there no doubt.... connecting what we have to a M1 and having all the options open of power/portability that the Maschine+ was intended for..... fortunately for those of us who have had the sensibility to be patient and wait for the New-tech fads&markets to settle
We really begin to see where the value is at..

the M1 although new is value even now imo... the draw for me of course is the power2performance add the portability aspect of the M1 mac mini that has 2 usb ports and 2 usb-c ports and the usual other ports... makes it very enticing for a mock portable Maschine+ setup... with more functionality&stability than the Maschine+

and yes, the M1 laptops is the logical choice but hmmm yea/nah too thin for my liking... give me the ruggedness of the m1 mac mini, and extra ports or options it provides
i did wonder if a typical apple to hdmi connector would be suffice for interfacing a ipad... surely it would??? wouldnt it??

Wait will make you save maybe... I expect some alternative from Apple (logic on iPad?) or smaller but better strategical placed to overpass Maschine proposal (Zenbeats? BM3 bought by behringer? Serato studio for iPad?). Something like Djay pro/Djplayer but for groovebox field.

Years ago I using duet display with an iPad , Mac mini and machine studio , 90% of the time it would work from boot up , occasionally I had to reset the duet display setup connection .

ATM I’ve got a m1 Mac mini and an iPad Air 4 , I used sidecar with it over WiFi , not tried it over usb , and I’ve not tried it from boot up , as a lone monitor, not sure if it would work tbh , you’d have to have launch app on startup , that’s what made duet display work , which I’m not sure is an option in sidecar , I’ll have a dig around later .

Duet display also had the added bonus that the touch screen sort of worked , no touchscreen with sidecar
You can get some small hdmi displays now tho , that could be an option .

I’ve just downloaded it , it was asking me to purchase it again, and it wasn’t showing up in apps not on this iPad , I think I must of hidden it , managed to find it way back in my purchase history , so I’ll test it out later , it’s been improved a lot since I last used this which was probably 4 or 5 years ago .

    Thanks Aldread..
theres another free alternative out there, which goes by the name of SpaceDesk, although it requires a network type setup in order to operate, it may not be possible to automatically boot as a primary display..
I actually use Spacedesk in my x3 pc setup... for shared monitor access or dual monitor displays

I am hoping that by the time I pick up my MacMini with M1 that Native Instruments will provide transition to ABSYNTH. I love that synth. I'd hate to lose it. Please, I beg of you, do what you must NI to make it happen along with all other products. C'mon, man !

By the way, I'm not a new member. I've used NI from all the way back when I purchased my G5 tower and had it stacked with Absynth, Pro-53, and Reaktor. Absynth is the lone survivor.

For me Absynth works well on Mac Mini M1 / Big Sur (I use it within Reason which runs via Rosetta pretty well).
