m3u is a standard, any reason why this feature was dropped? OK, i noticed that the traktor playlist is an xml file?

Is it possible to generate this xml file playlist with another source then load the list into traktor?

I'm using traktor for professional broadcasting, I've gotten the streaming and my bcd2000 to work thanks to the community!

    Cheers.

Plus, support for lame to mp3 broadcast, an option to the boggcast.

    Hi TempestII,

do you know a tool doing it vice versa? (Would like to use my Traktor Playlists for my backup-iPod.)

    Help would be much appreciated.

    Buenputter,
I don't know of a program that will go the other way but I might be able to help. Email me Chris (at) RadioFreeAkron (dot) com and give me more details of what you want to do.

Hi, how do You install that thing ? For me all setup does is to download a manifest-file which gives errors after.

EDIT : Okay, IE needed isntead of Firefox...

    Handy tool ! :)

That's the easy way. I do it in EMACS (a cross-platform text editor) with a macro that searches for the file tag, then deletes everything apart from the filename. And since that quick and dirty way works OK, I never went and did it properly.

Any good editor should have a macro capability, so you may use that. Or you use EMACS, but that depends on whether you like old-school editor style...

Of course, a short app in a proper language would be nicer.

Anyways, here's the ugly macro you can load into EMACS 8)

    Code:
;;; F9: transform traktor dj studio playlist files to winamp playlist

    (fset 'fx-nml2m3u
       [?\C- ?\C-s ?f ?i ?l ?e right right ?\C-w ?\C-s ?" left ?\C- ?\C-s ?p ?a ?t ?h ?= right ?\C-w ?\C- ?\C-s ?" left ?\C-w S-left ?\C-y ?\C-s ?" left ?\C-k right])

    (global-set-key [f9] 'fx-nml2m3u)

I see. I thought you needed to copy the songs to the ipod too. So all you need to do is convert the XML to the WinAmp .M3U format? Since I already have code to go from M3U to NML I should be able to get something going pretty quickly. Maybe it could hold you guys over until that option gets added to a Traktor patch.

Of course the songs need to be copied... I assumed people would sync their song collections themselves. And since I am allergic to proprietary sync tools (like iTunes) and closed devices (like the iPod) I only know it works with a player that mounts as a USB disk. Also, you may have to do a search and replace on the root dir. A Traktor patch would be the solution for the iPoddies.

    Cheers, h00la

    Hi guys,

thanks for your answers. I found a solution for me:
In the meanwhile, I hunted down an "old" Traktor 2.6 and updated to 2.6.2.

Now, I've got the desired feature. (...until there will be that
complex changes in Traktor that my latest collection/playlists will be unusable/unreadable for TDJS 2.6.)

the collection files between 2.x and T3 are different, BUT...

as long as you can miss the tags *mix* and *catalogue number* (or something similar, check the T3 welcome file for exact 2 tag fields), you're not gonna run into trouble - at least i used T2 and T3 with the very same collection for several months when T3 came out!
