Mac 10.8 and Traktor

Apple just released OS 10.8.
Anyone tried it with Traktor?

Dear Native Instruments user,

This newsletter provides important information about the compatibility of Native Instruments hardware products with MacOS 10.8, as well as with the current-generation MacBook Pro and MacBook Air models equipped with USB 3.0 ports.

Due to USB audio driver issues present in recent versions of OSX, some NI products will experience a degraded audio signal when used with OS X 10.8 "Mountain Lion" on any Apple hardware. The same issue occurs with the current-generation MacBooks under 10.7 using USB 3.0. Specifically, the following NI products are affected:

AUDIO 2 DJ / AUDIO 4 DJ / AUDIO 8 DJ
AUDIO KONTROL 1
GUITAR RIG MOBILE
GUITAR RIG SESSION
KORE 1
RIG KONTROL 2 / RIG KONTROL 3
TRAKTOR AUDIO 2
TRAKTOR KONTROL S4

Native Instruments has provided beta drivers* for these hardware devices to make them fully compatible with the newest Apple technologies. If you own one of the affected devices and run the latest MacOS version 10.8, or have a MacBook with USB 3.0, you can download and install the beta drivers from our unprotected drivers and updates page....

working fine here!

 

I installed Moumtain Lion last night. Traktor 2.5.1 worked but my S4's sound was totally screwed. I downloaded the new beta drivers from NI and everything works fine now.

I have to confess to being a little bit worried at one point thinking I'd completely messed up my system, but everything's good

Hi looking for help! I have Traktor S4 and also use Traktor Pro, installed Lion 10.8 on Mac, getting the usual noises that everyone is going on about, however I tried to install the Beta drivers, but said installation failed. Any advice? Cheers COlin

@cols1980... try downloading the BETA drivers again. For anyone else reading this thread, I recommend not upgrading to 10.8 until the drivers are out of experimental BETA. There's nothing in 10.8 worth screwing up a gig for

 

If you have already installed the Kext File fix, then you will FAIL any NI Software installation.

To prevent failing, restore to the original Kext file you have done in the installation. Then reboot, then install any NI software or drivers.

But I suggest to stick with the Kext File fix, because the latest Beta drivers still produces random crackling sounds and occasional audio imbalance.

 

@chrclmnky - cheers for the advice, not too clued up on kexts? i did download a Kext Wizard and that fixed it, however I deleted the whole kext package when i found out there were now Beta Drivers, so when trying to install the beta drivers, all i got was installation failed! ive been in contact with technical support and sent them a screen shot of the error (

 

Mac OS 10.8, TP2, the beta driver for S4usb to 3.0, the CPU is at 27%, works perfectly.
I'm really satisfied

 

Traktor Audio 10

Dear Buddha,

I am running 2 * X1's along with Audio 10 on a 10.8 OSX with a USB HUB . iM HAVING ISSUES WITH SOUND LOW QUALITY , SOME GLITCHES AND SOME DISTORTION . IS IT SUFFICIENT TO UPDATE THE TRAKTOR X1 DRIVERS , WHAT ABOUT MASCHINE AND TRAKTOR AUDIO 10 ? PLEASE HELP.

plus, you should have the soundcard always connected directly to the computer.

i use a powered usb hub and no issues but if i connect it directly to the computer then i have issues. It seems like my audio 8 is very power hungry. I have tested all my usb ports and it's all the same> I have tried my card on my friends mac and it works fine. Sometimes you just can't connect the soundcard directly to your computer without issues.

 

the audio 8 indeed goes tothe maximum of the usb2 specs, that's why you should always connect this to the computer directly, everything else can go to a (powered, please) hub.

 

yes i agree when there is no problem but in my case the card shuts down and restarts so i need to use the powered usb hub and i know other who have this issue.
