Any word on a Universal Binary update? I know your gonna make us pay for it so I thought it would've been out by now?

I have the same question, even though I don't have BS yet, I am really thinking about using my coupon on it.... probably the last thing I will buy from NI. Man, where's good old German efficiency when it comes to UB update!?

The most disappointing thing is that no-one from NI has shown, what you would consider to be, common courtesy, by informing those who frequent this forum.

Now that NI has posted up a notice of the delay for Bandstand is there any possibility of some information being posted by either one of the moderators (of which there are 6) or someone from NI letting us know what the date estimates for BS are?

The "date estimate" is reflected in the schedule -- "January 2007".

If NI is smart they will update that schedule when appropriate, but not provide any specific date.

I know it's in beta right now, so it shouldn't be too long. (I know that's vague...that's all the info I have.)

You must be thinking NI will have some announcements they are saving for MacWorld.

Mine too apart from this issue - the plugin version keeps wanting to activate the authorisation process. I have seen this in other posts of other NI products.
It goes through the activation using the service centre app and then reports an error yet shows that BS has been authorised.
Is there a solution if this keeps on occurring?

Otherwise I must say I am very happy with the fact that I can utilise BS on my new Mac. And it works very well.

    cheers

I am unable to use this update since I was one of the first to purchase this product. It is the last NI product that I will ever purchase. I won't throw good money after bad.

It is very unfortunate that early adopters who buy into release hype are penalized by the companies/products they supported. I would feel differently and be perfectly willing to support the development costs if I had been able to use the product while the update was being developed.

    Hi studio673,

please try the tips in the following announcment:

    http://www.native-instruments.com/forum_us/announcement.php?f=121

    Hi Steelrain,

do you mean that because you bought the product before the grace date, you have to pay for the Intelmac license? on all other machines you can use the update for free (PPC/PC).

    best,
    Markus

I agree with this entirely. The Mac interface of Bandstand is quirky and nonstandard anyway. Penalizing those of us foolish enough to buy the thing early by charging us again is unconscionable -- and this for an update that's six to eight months late, by the standards of the world of genuine Mac-ready products.

NI just doesn't have enough concern or expertise about the Mac for me to want more of their stuff, even if they didn't have the gall to charge for this. Their argument, by the way, is that it was a lot of work. Well, golly. It will be interesting (for somebody who cares) to see whether they make the same argument when Vista ships, and whether they take a year to update for it.

You should be glad that EastWest, for one, has decided to do their own player and not to rely on the Kontakt player. Maybe NI now understand the frustration that both it's end user and developer has felt. BTW, the real reason for all these UB delay is because of the resource diverted to Massive and Kore. It's purely economical, they want to sell more products, and then they feel their user are tied up with their product will be forced to pay for the late update which is so crucial for their new Mac.
