Now that the Traktor S4 MK1 is no longer supported with the new MacOS Sierra, I was curious what every Mac user is doing.

    A) Don't upgrade the MacOS for now
    B) Upgrade to Sierra and take a chance
    C) Dual boot with Windows on Mac
    D) Move to PC
    E) Try to sell S4 and buy S2/S4 MKII (need the jog wheels!)
    F) Buy another DJ controller

I can't decide, looking for ideas.

A bit of A) and B) - will test on Sierra on iMac, before updating the MBP. Sounds like it will work with some things switched off, which is fine to a point (bit of initial hassle), but what happens with future OSX updates, even minor ones, could mean further problems.

Ultimately I might use the opportunity to switch from Traktor to RekordBoxDJ and get a Pioneer controller - which I never thought I'd do - I personally feel Pioneer are overpriced and followers as opposed to innovators, however they have caught up. I'm also jogwheel fan and often a lot of my older music doesn't beatgrid well, so I ride the pitch/jog, so for me the newer NI controllers are missing features I want. Another reason is the seamless transition between home and club and back again. I've been using Traktor for 6 years and have bought very much in to NI's ecosystems - Traktor, Maschine and Komplete, but I think now might be time to transition from Traktor to RB for DJing.

Best Plan is to go with A or B with E and your plan if push comes to shove.

You could look to move to another software but now might not be the best time to jump ship.
The scary part about Rekordbox is where is Pioneer really heading?
The fact that the Rekordbox controllers are actually a separate line from the Pioneer Serato controllers makes you wonder what is their end road?
Can't see them continuing that path so what will they do?
Bail on Serato because Rekordbox works or Bail on Rekordbox because it didn't grow as planned?

Wonder how long it will be before Roland decides to make their own DJ software just to complicate things more?

    C) Except dual boot with OS X instead of Windows... I dual boot my Mac. One partition is for Traktor only and the other is for everything else. I find some sort of bug each time I upgrade Traktor (or OS X), so I am never in any rush to upgrade. El Capitan should be supported by Apple for quite a while longer as well.

I dumped both by MK1 And Mk2 for a Pioneer SX2 Traktor runs on it well the jogs suck though but i like it works for me and also gives me the option of using serato & rekordbox DJ.

S4 MK2 in my opinion is dated and NI really needs a new revamped controller with jogs.

Thanks everyone for the great feedback. I think I will hold off upgrading to Sierra for now (6 months-1 year). If NI comes out with a new jog wheel controller I will consider that or I may be looking at a Pioneer controller. It's too bad because I like Traktor and like the feel and design of NI products. I just don't see myself using the S5 or S8.

I ton of peps share the same view and have or will likely move away from Traktor if they dont meet their customer needs. I am hoping NI has some new products out by dec. but at the same time i worry as they are a bit slow and seem be lacking in resources to drive R&D and new products.

Yes, I agree. I can see what NI were doing with the S5 & S8, but as soon as I saw they were jogless, it was a straight 'No' from me and decided to stick with the S4 mk1 until either NI released another controller with jogs (still waiting) or jump ship to a different platform.

It's a shame, as likewise, I really like Traktor and would prefer to stay with it, but the draw of having a seamless transition from home to club and back again with Rekordbox is attractive, esp as it sort pains me to say it; Pioneer appear to be serious about their controller product line now - including many features from the CDJ/DJM line.
