Hi i'm thinking about new MBP, but classic 15" seems to me little big, 13" has lower resolution that i want, so 13" seems to be the solution.

As i read usb 3.0 would work with newer NI products, but what about screen resolution? Thats a big question.

Native resolution is 2560x1600, logicaly apple does that retina graphic that way that it is twice sharper (instead of every pixel are four) - no twice more information in twice directions.
So real resolution (amount of information on screen) (one day NI makes Retina images for TSP) will be similar as on 1280x800. Same as classic MBP. Am i right?

But what about nonRetina style nonNative resolution as 1440x900 or 1680x1050?

Has anyone tryed? Isnt it blured or something? Is it useable in club on 13"?
Can anyone post screenshots of these three resolutions?

Thanks anyone! I believe that i'm not only one, to who will help!

    have a great day

    Filip

Hey, good question. I haven't had a chance to install TP on a retina in the Apple Store yet, but always wanted to.

I don't expect NI to retinize the graphics in TP - I'm sure it's not amongst their top priorities ;)

If you run the MBPr @ 1680*1050 the display is not blurry at all, neither are the applications. Thus, I don't think Traktor will be blurry at all. If you come from a retina optimized app to Traktor then-... yes. Obviously it'll look less sharp. But not less than on any other laptop with 1680*1050 or less.

Again, I'd be happy to hear from someone with a MBPr :)

Here's a link to a full resolution screen shot from a 15" rmbp:

FWIW, in use and not all zoomed in like it will appear in a web browser, it's not that bad on the eyes. Maybe its just me, but the whole non-retina thing has been much less of an issue day to day than I expected it would be. If I conciously look for it, yes some apps have blurringin places. But most of the time it's something I rarely notice. Especially in Traktor.

That said, I'd love to see a retina version, just like I would for all my apps. :)

Thanks for the screenshot its 15" 2880×1800 with pixel doubling, instead of every one in x or y are two, so traktor shows you same much information as on 1440 x 900.

    But what happens when you choose 1680 × 1050 or 1920 × 1200.
Its NO pixel doubled or retina pixel doubled with 840px informations for 1680?

    Can you make screenshots?

Thanks a lot would be great to know!

Thanks a lot, when we compare these two pictures at lower resolution is much more information.

At the first second i was upset because pixel doubling at 100% zoom. But (i dont know why) The mac screenshot has 3840x2400 resolution when i open in photoshop, co thats the reason.

So it seems like. Retina would be usefull at 13". Can I ask you for the last one screen 1680, this one i would use on 13" so i could simulate in on some other laptop how small would the text be.

    Thanks for your time!

Another question for all? How long would macbook work without service? Today i realised that its complicated service Retina line. Battery connected to the top case, keyboard, trackpad. Same thing is motherboard+processor+memory. Its only one piece, so bad memory = exchange of motherbard and processor too.. More here: http://www.macservice.com/blog/tag/macbook-pro/

Bad news: The rMBP is one of the hardest machines to self-service
Good news: One rarely needs to. I would always recommend to go for the ACPP, as Apple tends to be very generous as soon as you have ACPP.

Upgradeability is also bad, so simply adding more RAM is close to impossible. If you don't treat a unibody MacBook badly, it runs for years and years and years.. And if you need a better spec one, you can sell the old one at a fair value (not like many other manufacturer's machines, where the value seems to drop by 10$ every day..)

I can honestly say the rMPB is the best computer I've ever owned, hands down. (I've had many Mac and PC laptops, iMacs, MacPro) It light, super-fast and battery lasts forever. I have no issues using Trakor 2.6 on my S4 and F1.

Don't worry about resolutions and of apps are optimized for retina or not. The OS handless translating everything seamlessly and every app will look as it should.

    one little question

Hi @ all. My name is Ben and I come from Germany. I know that this conversation is long ago but I would like to get your statements to the following question:

Which Retina Macbook Pro would you prefer, the 13" or the 15" (apart from the price) ? I only want to use it for djing and a bit for Logic Pro.

    Greetz, Ben

That's a tradeoff you'll have to make yourself.
15" = faster machine, more screen real estate .. but expensive, bigger, and heavier
13" = smaller footprint, cheaper .. but less pixels and not quadcore

Either way, I would NOT BUY A MACBOOK before June 10th.

Ok, the WWDC is over and for now no new Macbook Pro came out. Now the big question: Waiting for a coming Macbook Pro (maybe) in autumn or buying the 2012 Retina version? A german retailer offers the 15" retina Model with 2.4 Ghz actually for 1949,- Euro, which is a pretty good price (can be combined with a 0% financing for 33 month). So I'm not sure what I should do :(

    H.E.L.P!

I have to correct myself. It's not the Mid 2012 Retina. It's the Early 2013 Retina..

The easy answer is always "wait" - because something better will always be around the corner.

As you like - Buy now or wait. There's no right or wrong.

Personally, I'm waiting to get a rMBP with Haswell processor.

New models have new processor line with 2x bigger battery life (in air) much more quick access to SSD disc + i think mu more quick wifi

i dont know how it is with wifi video streaming but some months ago heard about something like that, fine to strem movies from your bed to LCD tv

but price for 15" retina is great! like it / hate battery combined with case - service cant exchange only battery you have to pay for 1/2 of case too
