    Hi,
Is the Macbook 2GHZ Intel Core Duo fast enough for using Guitar Rig 2?

I've set the Ram to 2GB.

Is it fast enough for going on tour on professionals gigs?
Is it going to be perfectly reliable?

Thanks a lot for any feedback!

Well, I did it with an ibook G4 with just the half specs,so the macbook will be fast enough. I'll be installing GR2 in my Macbook pro, 2.16Ghz, 1Gb Ram...this week...I'll give it a try and tell you about it later.

The MacBook uses an integrated graphics chip (meaning it shares memory with the rest of the system), which is different from both the iBook and the MacBook Pro (which both have separate, dedicated memory for graphics). This causes a bit of a concern about how well the MacBook will handle audio applications such as GR.

However, early reports on these forums suggest that GR works well with a MacBook.

    I see..
But you think that makes Guitar Rig behaving less efficently on a Macbook?

acidbahia, my advice for the ultimate setup with my MacBook 2GHz 1GB:
Using RK1 (acts as both controller and preamp) along with built-in Soundcard, running as a plugin under Live 6, which has fine-grained latency settings.
This beats both USB 2.0 and Firewire.

Unfortunately, I don't really know. I'm not really that familiar with the technical aspects of computers. I only know what I've been told by people who know more about it than me.

There have been a few people on these forums who have said that they are getting good results with a MacBook, however, so I've decided that I'm going to take a chance with a MacBook myself as well.

Thanks for your advises! I'll test Guitar Rig 2 on my macbook in the next days and will let you know how's everything working.

I have a pentium M 1,73Ghz and with hiqh quality-setting I hardly exceed 33% load with most presets. I don't think there's even a remote chance that you could run out of steam with a Core Duo.

GR 2 is not very graphic-intensive. The built-in graphics chip in the MacBook is more than enough to handle the graphics in GR 2. I think the main thing GR 2 likes to eat up are CPU cycles and some RAM, so the faster processor and more memory you have, the better. The MacBook I use GR 2 with is a 2.0 Core 2 Duo, with 1GB RAM. It's gravy on this system.

Excellent. Thanks for the information. I look forward to getting a new MacBook in December, hopefully.
