    Hey guys,
In the market for a new laptop and after much deliberation, I've decided to make the switch to Mac, the question is which one?
I'm considering the updated 13" model but concerned with the lack of dedicated graphics, will S4 run smooth on this mofo or should I settle for the 15" model. Finally, does i5 and i7 make much difference I terms of the 13" variety, can you really tell the difference when computing and using traktor?
    Any help appreciated,
    Cheers,
    Therealmuz

I dont use the S4 (yet....) but can comment on the performance of the hardware for DJing. You will have no problems with any of them. The integrated graphics will only come into play with video editing, photoshop stuff, and games. The intel HD3000 (or what ever it is) can handle 1080p movies no problem.

In terms of i5 or i7, it will make no difference for Traktor. Your basically asking should I use a Jag or Aston to drive to the pub? Which will be best? lol.

My advice would be to pick the machine you want. That way you wont want to change it for a while, and you will be the happiest you can be. Any machine form the last 3-5 years will handle Traktor fine (some might need a bit of TLC here and there tho! XD)

If you can, get the 15" you'll appreciate the bigger screen for sure.

I used a MBP 15", and just ordered a new one with higher resolution because of Traktor.
    So +1 for 15"

Agreed! 15" is the way to go. As for the processor speed, like said above, any of the last few years models will be fine :)

Check out the refurbished section of Apple's web site. That's where I picked up an i7 15" screen for an awesome price. Looks brand spankin new, no one would know and it comes with the same warranty.

I've been using a 2.5 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo system running OS X 6.5 for awhile now with the S4. The only time I really noticed a performance issue was with album artwork showing for my entire collection. This was both with the "click on" view where it only shows the selected file's artwork in the bottom left corner, as well as when viewing the artwork icons for every track in the library view. This caused definite stutters and slowdown in Traktor. I also suffered through crashes quite often. Since disabling artwork and downgrading from OS X 6.6 back to 6.5 I haven't had issues.
I'm going to be using a new 2011 MacBook 17" set up for Traktor 2 and hope I don't run into the same issues. If you DO notice any hiccups with Traktor though, try disabling the artwork view. Worked for me and I don't hear many people talking about this as a troubleshooting step.

    Thanks for your help guys,
I have decided to get a 2011 15" Pro, mainly due to the screen space as you guys suggested,
Thanks alot for your replies :)
