With Maschine you CAN assign all 16 pads to one sound at different pitches. This is accessible from pressing down the pad mode and selecting "keyboard". In my opinion, it works better than on the MPC. (I'm an MPC2000XL enthusiast who recently made the jump to Maschine. At the moment it seems very unlikely that I'll switch back..)

Too bad it can't do the same with velocities at the moment. Let's hope they'll include that in a future update. (That's one of the most important features for my workflow.)

Dude that is very encouraging, I was wondering how the workflow was, and the more I read and hear from actual mpc users, the more I get excited!

I'm not a big sample from records guy, I like to either use riffs and chop loops or make my own samples to chop. Matter fact, I've never sampled a record into my 4k....I'd rather not have to pay royalties to anyone lol.

But I do mangle and chop sounds and samples, if the workflow is there, then I don't see why I couldn't move to maschine, though...the 4k may get upset wit me...

sometimes you just gotta do that lol

I'll say this as far as MPC vs Maschine.... Native Instruments needs to hire JJ. I had the JJOS on my MPC1000 and that sh## was dope. I would like to see the chopping section mirrored after that. Which I'm sure they are trying to do as we speak. Where you would save time on the mpc would be in the chopping section but as far as the mpc you loose time syncing, tracking, and sampling. The way they set up the recording function in Maschine is nice. I would like to be able to make anchors in the chopping selection like how Recycle or kontakt. I think Maschine has a lot of potential to expand on what a mpc is and should be. Wish I could be on the development team of 2.0 it would kill everything else out there.
