NI screwed up Maschine with the 2.0 upgrade that made the software revert to Sounds to Midi Channels and Midi Thru turn On every time a group is loaded. Since they're making these Trutorials now and not releasing an update ,they should at least explain why they did this and how they think users should work with Maschine in a daw.. They should make a clear video for each major DAW showing what they recommend in order to record midi straight to the DAW.

They owe this to folks who purchased Maschine based on a feature set (ease of Daw use) that they took away

Then get rid it. Somebody else with less will use it and make music with it.

I would love too. But I would not only lose Maschine and expansions they would take my Komplete crossgrade as well (I emailed and tried). They have my hands tied unless I want to spend as much as I would sell Maschine for just to get Komplete back. I would literally be giving my Maschine away for free. So I sit and whine until I can use Maschine without that horrid sequencer.

As months go by with no word from NI about what the plans are for the next Maschine update, one thing strikes me; NI really needs to divide this forum into Standalone and Vst Daw Users. Its clear that stand alone users dont have the issues that the 2.0 update provided for DAW users and not understanding DAW use leads to a lot of anger from stand alone users or at best a dismissive attitude (sell your Maschine and quit complaining). If we had 2 different forums then people who use Maschine in a DAW only could have better discussions without getting bogged down by folks trying to convince all that a certain approach isnt needed just because they dont do it. It works the other way also, of course.

All the folks that got Maschine for creating songs with vocals and real instruments in a DAW, like modern r&b ,hip hop/ r&b hybrids have had their workflows screwed up and work arounds like using 2 sequencers and dragging midi or audio are being adapted because newer users dont know how well things used to work. As far as I see, Maschine VST Daw users would benefit from workflow discussions apart from stand alone users because more details about how folks are working could take place.

Stand alone users seem to be DJ's playing liveand folks doing electronic instrumental music. Thats a lot ,if not most, users and specific issues they face could get better focus in a separate Forum.

NI is long overdue on making a statement about Maschine development yet they crank out those TruTorials like we're all beginners. They screwed up DAW use with 2.0 , yet not a single tutorial about why, how its supposed to be better, or efficient use for Maschine vst in a DAW.

Maybe its us. The end user. Maybe we are lazy and want it too easy. After all those folk weened on MPC's manged, didn't they?
That stock sound, reflecting the limits of the old technology, should be what we aim for. Yeah, we shouldn't lay blame with
Native Instruments, or the savvy marketing which made it look effortless. No, we should blame our own lack of technical inventiveness.

After all being a musician these days should mean being part geek, working around the limits of the tech, wasting time with add-
hoc solutions, in that 'one bit at a time' manner, which so characterize the last generation of tech..

What right have we to dream of the effortless work-flow. Why the hell should we want technology which allows us to translate
that idea in our head, to the sounds at our disposable.

No, music making should be a chore, or the product of chance, i guess. Who needs moments of bliss-filled inspiration, when there's this stop-start process to contend with.

But then there's always analog. A pair of sticks to lay that beat down. A bass guitar for that killer bass line, a tape machine with simple on and off for instant capture.. ah, the good all days when the key ingredient to music making was our imaginations..

Simply said, switch to Ableton Push ! NI should stick at what they're good at - that is, developing synthesisers (Massive, Reaktor, it's been a long time since they didn't come up with something amazing) and sound design (though i'm a little tired with their huge cinematic librarys, hey ! we're not going to remix Game of Thrones all day long !), and maybe DJing though I am not a DJ and therefore cannot judge the quality of their products. I have been using Maschine in its stand-alone version, ok, funny, but now I'd like to use it in my DAW and it's a real hassle. I've come to a point where I seriously think about selling my Maschine and all extensions I've bought to grab Push and stick with Komplete. By the way, fluxitation, good luck with Logic : NI's AU plugin is shitty, all MIDI stuff like recording and/or reading MIDI tracks with Maschine is done with the VST version...

As it happens i have Push.

and so what i would like is a way to use Maschine along side Ableton in a seemless, and transparent manner. Maschine to supply its sounds, Maschine to 'sculpt' those sounds, Maschine for that perfect group of sounds, Maschine for those new kits of sounds, with Ableton to compose and record, sequence, jam and mix.

Native Instrument needs to wake up to reality, before someone invents another way to access its sounds. The best of both worlds would be a way to use the Maschine.and the Push controllers.

Huh I Dj and their are plenty of hip hop producers and rnb who uses maschine. You only speak for yourself. If 40, havoc, 9th wonder, mike kolumbo can use it faithfully maschine isn't the problem. Oh, Jonas said their is an update coming. If the sequencer is improve their no more excuses!

I wasnt making excuses in the first place. You seen to be confused. I use Maschine everyday and make music. It was easier to integrate with a DAW before 2.0 update. I'm just hoping that the next update restores previous functionality.

+1 Midi out to DAW! I do not like the sequencer in Maschine, I want to use any DAW I like and use Maschine as a drum controller because the pads is so good. I also use Battery 3 and 4, so controlling any VST is dope! Come on NI you have it in Battery why not in Maschine? Don´t care about templates I want it easy and normal midi.

Yes I know you can, but not as default, not easy and you need to make a template. When I play Battery kits on Maschine the velocity respons is not as good as Maschine kits so it is limited and crippled.

Yes you can.The issue is that, after the 2.0 update ,ease of use in a daw was broken.. Up until 1.8 all you had to do was set in's and outs to a daw , load a Group (working with Sounds to Midi Notes) and record midi straight to the DAW. After you got your midi recorded ,you could load new Groups of new sounds on the fly, as the midi played to audition your midi beats against different kits. This is ,by fay the fastest way to work in a daw.The 2.0 update broke that. Everytime a new Group is loaded ,Sounds to Midi Notes resets to Channels ,Midi thru is turned on in the Sound Input (generating major feedback) . These have to be reset everytime and no template in Maschine or a daw will prevent that.

A simple DAW MODE would make Maschine faster to work with as it was previously.

I can't believe this hasn't been changed yet. Haven't been using Maschine for a while now because it killed my workflow. I thought that if I wait long enough it would probably change at some point. It is so crazy that it used to work though..

When I look at my Maschine I often feel like I am in a perverted musical gear version of Beckett's "Waiting for Godot".
