Make Play button send MIDI message to start DAW

OK. 1.5 is out and it's nice, but I would really LOVE to have this 1 feature. 1.5.1 maybe?

 

i just wanted to start this thread but then saw that this thread is opened since one year now

i would love to have this special feature, too. i just bought maschine a few days ago, installed it, started cubase, load vst, press play and... nothing

but i think i know why this special feature is not so easily to implement. in vst mode, the maschine controller is fully mapped to the maschine vst. and i haven't seen that the vst programming interface provides a function to start the transport of the daw. i have seen this feature only in the rewire interface yet.

so i think only steinberg can do something here by extend their vst api with the feature to control the transport via vst. so maschine could send a play, stop.. whatever via vst api to the daw.

the only way to solve this problem by NI is to strip the transport functions of maschine in vst mode from the vst and send midi data to the daw when pressing a transport-button on the maschine controller. then the user could map the midi signals to the transport functions of the daw.

let me know if i'm wrong...

 

you could be right about the vst thing, but since Maschine is a controller too, and it can send those messages in midi control mode, we have been hoping for some type of code to allow it to still send the basic midi messages when being used as a plugin.

I think many would even be happy with letting it only start Maschine's sequencer if they don't update the controller code to send midi transport messages to the host when in Maschine mode.

 

I agree. I just want the play button to start the Maschine sequencer when running as a plugin. That's how it works for GURU as a plugin with Maschine's GURU template. If only I could do the same thing with Maschine.

This feature would be great when using Maschine in Kore as a sequencer for controlling other plugins. Ah, the posibilities...
