Well, NI has already said that they won't be implementing this when Maschine is used as a plugin, and I agree with their reasoning behind it.

Also, I'm sure this will no longer be a feature that as many people want or need, obviously in light of the upcoming 1.6 update.

What could be their reason to not listen to all these people?

I think there was a misunderstood ... NI don't want to make maschine the transport control in plugin mode independent from the DAW.
But what we all expect is just the ability to send MIDI message to the DAW in order to control its play-head when pressing control buttons.
I don't think NI said formerly that they won't implement that. at least I really hope and so I'm just waiting for the complete list of features :)

+1 awsome, and what would you have Shift/Play do?
    ---
so I guessI gotta buy another maschine controller , and run it in midi mode and do it that way? Is that the style of native instruments?

I bump that in hope NI can listen it and implement it in 1.6 please. It's not a big deal and it can really change the game.

"Just last week we have discussed this intensively, but for now we have decided against it. It's a very fundamental paradigm that the host sequencer is the tempo master for the inserted plugins, and we are simply seeing too many potential negative side effects when we would let the plugin switch back and forth between being a "tempo slave" and an "independent tempo master" at any time."

I agree with NI on this one. I much prefer using Maschine in standalone mode anyway. For those who use Maschine as a plugin, there are lots of options for transport controls for DAWs.

We are not asking for the plugin to switch back and forth between being a "tempo slave".

We are asking for the transport keys to be able to send a MIDI or keyboard message instead of what they currently do in plugin mode, which is nothing.

There is more than one way to implement this. One way they already shot down because they see some potential issues. What most people are asking for in this thread is something similar to MMC support. This is common on MPC's and most host will respond to it. However, I am not sure if MMC commands are able to be sent when a device is a clock slave or not.

There is another way to give Maschine at least the ability to start and stop itself even if it is a tempo slave. MOTU BPM is able to do this as well as many hardware devices. When the BPM plug-in is set to sync to the host tempo as slave, it can still at least start and stop it's own transports. This is in addition to syncing to the host start and stop commands. The only thing it losses is control over tempo.

Hopefully NI will figure something out in the future.

If you have ever used this feature with another plugin like GURU or UltraBeat you would understand what we are asking for. It's a workflow thing. I don't understand why this is so difficult. As I have state previously, I can use the Maschine controller in MIDI mode to do this with GURU. What's so difficult?

simple midi message option/configurable option in controller editor please. It's really annoying not to be able to do this :(

You can already do this with the controller editor. Maschine controller can control the transport of any DAW just fine in MIDI mode (which is what the controller editor is for).

This thread is about people wanting to control the DAW transport while Maschine is in Maschine mode while hosted as a plugin inside a DAW. My preferred way of working with similar results is to use Maschine in standalone mode and as a sync master via the virtual MIDI output to slave the DAW to Maschine.

y have to switch to midi mode just to be able to use maschines transport to control your DAWs transport. to me that would be even more annoying.

But not if you're using Maschine in standalone mode and as sync master, especially in light of the plugin hosting in the 1.6 update.
