What I do is, with a mac and quicktime pro, I use a rca 3.5mm stereo plug Male to 2 rca male plugs and connect the line out from my stereo system to the line in on my laptop. Then I open quicktime, go to preferences and select built in line in as the audio source for recordings and then start a new audio recording. The stereo receives the master out from the bcd mixer while at the same time sending the music straight back to my computer. I doubt you'll have the same set up as me, but perhaps something similar so that this might serve as an outline of steps?

By the way, I don't think the audio quality of the recording is quite 320 kpbs (not sure how to tell), but it is still good.

thanks Jaydean for your advice, i like it, even though in virtual Dj with Omnicontrol, I am able to record in the virtual Dj itself.
    regards

Here is a simple way to record if you are using Traktor 3 LE and you install Kristal Audio engine.

All you have to do is route your master audio output from the BCD3000 or whatever device you are using into your pc or laptop mic line in.

In order to do this you will have to get a adapter for the end of your male rca line into a female combinder that channels into one plug in line, should look like your typical headphone plug, and plug it in.

In order for it to work, turn on your Traktor first, then open Kristal Audio engine. In Kristal on the mixer at the left hand side you will see it says audio inputs 1,2,3,4 and so on. On input 1 click the selection field right below and select live line in.

To test if its picking up sound from your DJ controller simply press play and you should have audio in.

Please note when doing it this way you will have sound from your laptop speakers so in your sound controls just mute the sound so you just hear it from your controller.

Now you can record and post fly mixes where.

I hope I made that as simple as possible.

By the way, if you own a BCD3000, Kristal Audio Engine comes with the bundle or you can download it for free online.

I think I made a mistake with that last post because I just tried to record and the audio picked up but when I went for play back nothing was there.

You may need to route your master through a audio interface line in.

    Testing now.

Not sure why the first set up didn't work.

    Jaydean,

I'm using a RCA to jack cable to play my music through my stereo and/or DVD player by way of the aux input. When I use similar logic and plug in the jack into my laptop's headphone input, I get no audio. I've changed my settings but still nothing. I need audio when doing this to record via Audacity. I'm on a mac...do you or anyone know of anything I can do to get audio playback from traktor le to my laptop when using a midi controller - in my case Numark's Omni Control?

    Thanks!

    Steve:

I've since gotten rid of my BCD system and no longer use Traktor Le, so my memory is a bit fuzzy on how to set things up. In the Traktor program, select your MIDI controller as the (I think this is the title in the preferences section of Traktor) output device. Now all sound is being routed to the MIDI device. From here is where you connect the master out of the MIDI controller to your desired speaker setup. For me, it was my stereo. Then, with another cable (the one mentioned in my other post) I connected the stereo back to my laptop via the line in jack on my macbook and the line out jack on my stereo. It was in the preferences section of the program I was using, in your case Audacity, that I changed the input settings of my macbook to line in so that the computer would be able to receive the audio from my stereo and record. I fear this response might achieve nothing but redundancy and therefore be of no assistance to you, but, like I said, it has been a while.

I remember when I was first trying to figure out the correct setup how difficult it was as it was all knew to me. Often it was minute details I constantly over looked before I figured out all the steps that must be completed simultaneously for it to work, so feel free to ask more questions if you think I might be able to help.

    Jaydean,

Thanks for the response - much appreciated. It did clarify things for me. The issue I was having was that I was sold I knew how to do this based on other posts...I found out that the lack of a second cable (sorry I missed that in your other post) was the difference...

Another fix that I came across and tested was by using an application called "Line-In"...link below...

Once line in is active I hooked up my midi and connected the RCA to Jack accordingly with the jack going into my macbook's input...I then adjusted the sound settings for my input to built in input and then launched the application and adjusted those settings (line in= default system input; output = built in output: internal speakers)...all was perfect and I finally recorded my first mix with traktor le...

Just re-read my post and realized that my english was a little off, which it shouldn't be...i guess that's the result of a long day of work...I cleaned it up under a post I started...same issue...practically same response...

    Thanks again for your help...
