    Greetings NI Forum:

    I'm a relatively new digital DJ. I've worked hard to learn Traktor and have waited until I can use and understand the controls of my X1 before moving into mapping new functions to the device. I've referred to my trusty Traktor Bible but am now stuck.

    I placed my X1 in MIDI mode and have successfully mapped the following for deck A:

    ON = hi kill dry/wet = hi eq
    1 = mid kill 1 = mid eq
    2 = lo kill 2 = lo eq
    3 = filter on 3 = filter adjust

    No problem at all. Then I decided I would like the browse/load knob to be my deck A volume fader adjust. In direct mode, as expected, one click left = all the up, one click right = all the way down. I switched to relative but no matter where I place the sensitivity and acceleration, I can't get the fader to move more than 1/4 of the way up or down. On page 132 of the Bible, it gives a tutorial on adjusting the sensitivity and acceleration. But I believe this is using a normal knob. The browse knob in an "endless" knob if I'm using the terminology correctly. Following over to the next page seems to give an explanation of this type of encoder, but I'm having trouble translating the information in a way to help this current situation.

    I know there are mappings galore that will allow me to download a .tsi and get me going but I am stubborn, and want to do it myself to better understand my software and how to use it.

    Any thoughts or ideas from anyone with experience mapping endless knobs/encoders would be appreciated. Thank you for reading.

    Thanks for all the help.......jk.

    As I read on a little more carefully, I realized that I had to change the type of controller from rotary/knob, to encoder. Then I fiddled with the enc-mode, rotary sensitivity & acceleration, and got it just right.

    So to complete the mapping. The right side is exactly the same for deck B with EQs and kills, filter adjust on/off.

    The left browse knob I made volume fader for deck A, right for deck B

    The left loop knob I made a rotary cross-fader
    The right loop knob is the cue/monitor volume adjust

    Also, FX1 on the left and FX2 on the right are Monitor Cue On for Deck A & B respectively.

    Honestly, I don't know what everyone is complaining about. I just mapped my first controller, without any xtreme wizard apps, in about an hour.

    I'm excited to go down to my basement and crank up the Focusrite Scarlett 2i4 and the KRK Rokit5's. It seems that the things this little X1 can do are endless. I'm so glad I chose this device over some monstrous controller. I mean, in terms of two deck control, and other than the remix decks, I can pretty much handle it all. Another X1, and an F1 or two and that will pretty much handle it all. I will actually probably get a mixer and then use the midi mode to control C & D.

    I love NI/Traktor/The Bible/X1. All good purchases. Off to jam!
