    Hello everybody.

I've just bought a Denon MC3000, and decided right away that i had to upgrade to the pro version of traktor.

I really hope you guys can help me, because i can't figure it out myself.

I want to map the LED's on my controller, i want the PLAY button to flash when a song is loaded onto it but NOT playing. And i want it mapped so when i press the play button, it should stay lit (like the cdj 1000).

And i also want the FX ASSIGN 1&2 (or whatever they're called) buttons on the mixer flash when the FX 1&2 are activated (like the djm 800). It doesnt have to flash on beat, same with the play button, just flash. Can you guys help me out?

I live in sweden, so please excuse my bad english.
    Thanks in advance,
    Tobias

    Hey there.

DENON has a very peculiar LED mapping system. In order to give advice on how to map using a DENON controller, it is necessary that the opponent understands the basic mapping system of Traktor itself. How are you with mapping regular controllers?

A typical controller usually uses the same note number for the button and the LED that is paired to it. So you can use the learn function (thanks to the update in 2.5!) to get the note number of the LED. Plus, the LED usually lights up when it receives a positive midi value, and turns off when it receives 0.

Your question is a difficult one in two ways. Firstly, you want them to blink, not simply turn on. To make an LED blink, either the controller must have a blink mode included as it's feature, or you will have to do some creative mapping using the beat phase monitor output. Secondly, to map LEDs on a DENON controller, one needs to know what midi notes (or CCs) are responsible for turning on/off each LED.

Why don't you start by finding out these and we'll see how far we can get from there.

    1) Do the MC3000 LEDs include a "blinking" state?

    2) Which CCs are responsible for turning on/off/(and blinking, if available) for the LEDs that you want to work with?

Both of these infos should be found in the user manual of MC3000.

How many decks do you use for mix? If you use two or three you can leave fourth deck to be your blink engine for LEDs. Point is, you can load one track which will always be playing (in loop) so beat phase monitor can send blinking lite signal at any time and from there you can map it to the rest of your decks as you want.

Second way to accomplish this can be by loopRec beat position output. Just map all four to same button and you are good to go. Midi range for each LED 0-0.25; 0.25-0.50; 0.50-0.75; 0.75-1.00. Set to four beat loop.

Probably the best but more complicated way to do this is by routing beat monitor back to traktor using virtual cable.

This will cause the play button to flash in Deck A:

    Add Out / Deck Common / Play/Pause
Device Mapping: Ch01.CC.076 (Don't press Learn)
    Assignment: Deck A
    Controller Range: 0 1
    Midi Range: 0 39
    Invert: Check

This will prevent play button flashing in the empty deck at startup:

Add out / Deck Common / Deck is Loaded
    Device Mapping: Ch01.cc.075
    Assignment: Deck A
    Controller Range 0 1
    Midi Range: 0 39
    Invert: Don't check

This will cause the play button to flash when you load the first track:

Add out / Deck Common / Load Selected
    Device Mapping: Ch01.cc.076
    Assignment: Deck A
    Controller Range: 0 1
    Midi Range: 0 39
    Invert: Don't check

To duplicate this behaviour to Deck B, enter the three mappings again but change the Device Mapping to ch03.cc.076 (and 075) and change the Assignment to Deck B. (Deck C is ch02 and Deck D is ch04).

There are other ways to load a track to a deck. If you use commands like "Load Next" or "Load Previous" you will have to map them separately.

Hi ray thanks for the input on the mapping. However I can't get it to work correctly. I double checked to make sure I imputed the information correctly and I have. However the play button flashes at start up which it isn't supposed to. And it dosnt slways flash when I load a track. About 1 in every 5 tracks flash when I load it however they all flash after I've paused a track that has already been playing. So hope you could help with that. Thanks

It might be that the existing LED mapping is conflicting with the new mapping. I probably should have said which commands to delete first. I'll have time to take a look at it next week, so I'll post something up in a few days.

I just tried it and it worked fine. I installed Denon's official 4 deck mapping and then tried it with the official Remix Deck mapping and it worked the same with both. I didn't delete any existing commands and I followed each step as above. I don't know why it's not working for you. Sorry I can't be more help. Personally, I found mapping LEDs on MC3000 is very confusing!

Just tried this and it works fine. However for some reason the jog wheels don't work when the play button is flashing and the Vinyl Mode on the MC3000 is off.
