    Hey yall,

I've had a good search around the forums for the info I need, but as its quite specific, I'm gonna have to post it and hopefully someone with some extreme mapping skills can help me out.

I have an A&H xone 2D, and im using the 4 rotary encoders at the top to control the loop functions the four decks - from the left A B C D. turning the knob makes the loop larger or smaller, and pushing down the button loop active and loop set so the loop is on and is the size selected.

the only problem with this, is if for example i have a 32 loop, and I deactivate the loop, you cant reactivate the loop or make another loop within the 32. I was just wondering if anyone has any experience with this kind of mapping, i.e if theres a better way to map the function?

    thanks

the loop always starts at the point where you press "activate".
    if you mean this.
if you want to disable a loop and come back to it after without searching exact position first, you have to store the loop as a loop.
store a cue-point, and turn it to "loop". then, by hitting the resp.button for the cue-point, it will activate this loop.
i hope that`s what you mean

hey, thanks for the reply, but maybe I haven't been clear enough.

I'm trying to map the Allen and Heath rotary encoders to control the loops.

    things that work:

mapped the rotary encoder to control the "loop side funciton" turning the knob makes the loop larger or smaller.

used "loop set" + "loop active" on the down press on the same rotary encoder. this activates the loop at the size you have selected.

    this is what works.

    what ISNT working:

when you click the rotary encoder down the second time to de activate the loop it also triggers the "loop set" function again. this means that the loop is not active, and lets say you wanted to activate a smaller loop within the boundaries of the current set size, you cant. this is because the second "loop set" function on the deactivate the loop press is unnecessary.

this could probably be fixed if "loop set" was able to be toggled, but it only lets you use it as a trigger.

also it could be fixed of on the second press it was only the "activate" button that was pressed, not both, as then you could most likely make another loop inside like you can by clicking the 2 4 8 16 32 etc loop size buttons in traktor.

the problem is that if you have a 32 bar loop running, and you let it go because you wanted to go ahead 8 beats and then grab another loop which starts inside the current "set" you cant.

    is that clearer?

I figured out the problem. "loop set" already includes "active" so when i mapped loop set and also active it was messing it up.

funny. you would think on the NI forum this simple mistake would be easily identifiable and fixed.
