Mapping questions for beginner or how to use the search engine

Hey Guys,

Greetings to everyone.

I just started mapping my Traktor F1 as a FX Unit and I try to understand mapping a little bit. Since I want to learn to do the mapping myself it would be cool if someone could point me in the right direction so I dont make a redundant post.

I d love to map the F1 like the many FX mappings you find online (for exampel on traktorbible, which is "sold out") and I d love to do it from scratch.

Could someone tell me "usefull" words to put in this forums search engine or google or etc to finde basics of F1 mapping. Maybe a good walkthrough or tutorial in general. The ones I find are often not as detailed as I d like them to be and maybe one of you has a "gem" burried on is laptop or a good advise on how and where to start.

Just to give you an idea. One of my (many) problems for exampel is to make a certain "pad" on the F1 light up permanently to help navigate in the dark. Till now triggering a pad I assigned an FX to only makes it flash for a fraction of a second.

An advice or maybe a source to help me solve those kinds of problems (and many other that will arise) would be much appreciated so I dont bother people in the forum as much.

Best way to learn mapping is to look at other mappings. Load them and see what they do and try to find the to commands that go with a button.
Also just start with litlle commands like make a button led go on or off. This will help you to underdstand how mapping and all of its commands work.

On this forum you can find may tips on how to map certain things.
On YouTube type traktor mapping and have fun.

To make a led go on or off you have to change the pad settings in the controller editor, which is a different program.

Maybe you have another tip for me.

I d Like to map a Modifier on the encoder knob on the Traktor F1 to easy increase and decrease the modifier. The idea is to be able to use multiple pages. Is it possible to map the small display next to the encoder to show me on which "page" I am by showing me the corresponding multiplier on that display. For exampel I use the encoder to increase the modifier from 0 to 1 I d love to have the small display show me a "1"

OK SOLVED:

1) Its "Add Output"

2) "7 segment.both cols" in "Device Mapping"

3) and then setting the Midi range to 8 for (8 Multiplier for example)

 

Yes you can have the display show your page number. See picture for pages counting from 1 to 8.
