Whether or not it is "specifically intended" to be used this way OR native inst's was only enticing us with misleading "inienuations" is beside the point; if it walks like an MPC, talks like an MPC and looks like an MPC, it should at least be able to handle MIDI like an MPC.

This is very easily resolvable AND NI can continue their quest for unchartered territory with this product/tool. It should be able to address it's MIDI "controller" like a MIDI controller and accept MIDI input data on the IN port and transmit midi output data to other midi devices on it's MIDI OUT port. Simple.

I want and should be able to trigger my sound modules, VSTi's and samplers. If Machine is not going to be allowed to host my VSTi's like Kore can it should at least be able ot transmit midi data with the other host PC that can so that I can use them like sound modules.

Machine should also be able to address my PC's other available midi controllers AND sound card/audio interfaces just like my other NI products can.

This is what seperates NI from my dollars and Machine from my current setup - a setup that is desperatly in need of an "un-crippled" and useful Machine.

well all i want it to do is what the guy did in the Tutorial video where he plugged a midi keyboard into his maschine. Using the Midi in port of maschine. So, having said that if i plug in a midi keyboard into my maschine's midi in will it work like the guy did in the video? just asking. And if not, then that would explain why my midi keyboard i have now wouldn't work. / because i don't like using the pads on maschine for playing keyboard parts is all. will using a usb midi keyboard (the kind that connects to the usb port of a person computer) work with maschine? i know you get tired of answering the same questions a million times. but i want to make sure before buying something (midi keyboard) that won't work etc.

if you plug a keyboard into your "system" with Maschine and simpy turn the midi in port "on" (whether it's on your AI, your maschine unit, a USB port, etc) it WILL work as shown in the video.

The MIDI argument you've just witnessed is anothe rissue altogether, which is clearly a bridge you personally haven't crossed yet. No biggie. You are safe to hammer away on the keys and they will trigger maschine sounds.

As for the whole argument above, read the specs inside and out before buying something. Accept the limitations imposed before you spend your money and then wait patiently (no whining) until the product improves (if you are lucky enough to have a company creating products with constant, FREE, improvements/upgrades).

Maybe it's not perfect, but it's a hell of a lot of maschine for the money and it definitely makes music making fun again, IMHO...

    yes!

it works for me, just like you see in the Video.

but until 1.1, you will only be able to play 1 Sound (which ever one is selected) at a time. which is what is seen in the Video.

hey that is fine with me. i'm picky but not that picky. i just wanted to do what the guy did in the video. and again thanks for all the help and info. but, if a midi keyboard doesn't work while plugged into maschine's midi in. i can live with using the pads if i have too. just wanted to know if one would work like the video is all.

Maschine has to be N.I.'s biggest selling product i bet.... youtube is flooded with videos. that's what lead me to buy one. well anyway keep on rockin dudes.
 and again thanks for the help and info. and if i offeneded any sorry about that. have a good day guys.

    ok ,warren
    connect your keyboard via midi
go to the audio and midi settings in the machine file menu, go to in -output, activate your usb keystation by choosing " on" in the menu for both , in - and output, should work now ;)
final hint, try reading the manual , at least the getting started part ;)

I have to say that I am really disappointed that the MIDI-issue hasn't been fixed yet. It's been over half a year, and all I see are mere promises to fix the problem (and that's exactly what I think it is). NI doesn't seem to care (and now somebody's going to post "but we SAID they're going to address it"...) You know, I will believe it when I see it. For the time being, I'm REALLY disappointed (although, as a hardware standalone, it in fact IS a lot of fun playing the Maschine, no doubt).

    agreed completely!

I am trying to use the Maschine IN FL Studio and i can not control the start and stop while in fl studio because of this flaw. A workaround is to press play in fl studio and then press record on the Maschine but you have to time everything right.

Check this out and see if it works for you, its a template I made for FL Studio 9.03 you could extend this quite a bit for your needs.
