I'd really like to see some simple things....

    1) Easier live scene switching

    2) More groups?

    3) Finer detail on sample zooming

    ...and some more complex things...

    • Time stretch
      Better Automation view

I am not sure what the main purpose of Maschine is at the end of the road.

Should it be a DAW where you can create and mix complete Songs?

In this case, the functionality (even after the update) is way beyond the necessary scope. Why should i use vst-effects in maschine for example? For sound-creation? In the final mixing-stage i need the complete set of audio- and/or instrumental-tracks, where i can tune all necessary automation- and plug-in-parameters. Otherwise the result is (in best case) not more than a rough-mix or a chill-out experience. But i believe maschine ist not meant to be a fun-tool only.

Should it be a tool to create basic ideas and tracks in a fast and easy way. In this case you need efficient DAW Integration, cause after the initial creative- or fun-stage you need an easy workflow to complete and fine-tune the song in all aspects.
After working with Maschine and Cubase for months i must say, the transition is not easy. I often use maschine as a controller only, because i have consistens control of the whole cubase-setup. But the possibilities of maschine are wasted this way too. Maschine could be much more professional in this case.

Sorry, scratch that. Oh you sneaky shift key. And yes Cubian, I completely agree.

But I guess it's a little late now that 1.7 has already come out....However, until they fix this, is the easiest way still to export all audio as individual tracks? Is there no way to use Maschine as a vst instrument and have midi inside my DAW?

It's done all the time. Yet another RTFM moment. Try searching in the forum first next time.

I don’t want to sound off, but goddamn! NI couldn’t come up with one complete product update instead they develop an app for IOS and a chop off version of the same controller while we are begging for an update. No wonder they can’t concentrate in fixing one issue instead they chose to jump into other projects. Yeah, I know people are going to jump and say use it or shut up, but in reality its f#ckup. 1.7.1 did not bring anything else new to the table. Who the hell it’s going to come up with more money at this time when this device should do it all do we really need KOMPLETE 8 in the loop to have things working, NO!. NI wants people to cough up more cash? Fix things, as they should… Remember it’s… if you build it they will come… But right now NI its scarring people away with this non-cense.

LOL Yet another expert with insider knowledge on the inner-workings on NI's development process.

This update might not have brought anything else new for you but it certainly does for many others.

So what are the things that NI should be fixing yet supposedly can't concentrate on? Can you be more specific when sharing your insights since it really sounds like you know what you're talking about?

+1... Actually, that friggin' zoom is probably one of the worst things in Maschine.

try holding shift and twisting the knobs, also the zoom locks onto the last adjusted point ie start/end,

    worst things hell no,

maybe a few more increments when chopping up big files but the zooming for me is superb

i got faith in NI, Now that they got this 1.7 update out of the way, they can start working on the other things we need. Its not even like its any thing hard, there basic functions that should have come with maschine from the jump.

    Timestrech
    pitch shift
    midi import
    multi timbre
    ect....

A few things I would like...

    Midi import....
    time stretching....
    automation....

If NI requires us to pay for that update.....I have no objections. Just the VST support was enough for me to pay for. So yeah, I'll shell out some $ for an update with those additions...
    ---
I hear a lot of complaints...

People are expecting the perfect product as soon as it drops...

I don't know of any DAW/Sequencer that was perfect from the start...

Yes I would love some things added, but I LOVE my maschine. Image line took 8 versions to get it right....Akai is still trying to get it perfect. Maschine is at 1.7 and it has made HUGE jumps from 1.0. Most of the users copped it @ 1.5...but ask anyone who's had it since the beginning.... NI is doing great things with Maschine. I don't think NI thought that Maschine would be so successful. If you don't like what NI is doing with their Maschine, then sell the one you have and get something else. I'll stick with my Maschine.

NI lost me on the exact thing. When you want to use Maschine as a Sequencer (which makes up what Maschine is to me for a good part) WITH external devices (Synths, Reason what have you), you are limitied to notes. I couldnt even believe it when it became clear after numerous posts, forum digging and support tickets (support actually said everything is fine and you can record and send ccs to external synths, lol).

A Sequencer that is only able to send notes to external devices is by no means a complete package.
I mean is it some esorteric niche wish to controll external devices with a sequencer. Is a better midi implementations such can of worms or why is this not in there? Looks more like they want to stay in the plugin world for obvious reasons but still can market this differently.

Don't get me wrong, Maschine is nice package and most likely most people are just fine with it. And as you can see there are alot of me toos in the industry now coming up- they must have done something right.
But in the above area it lacks alot of basic features which should be in from what the device represents. I don't even know if this is acknowledged since the support told me, what i wanna do is possible.

As a comparison, Reason has no Midi out. One could say what a design flaw. But the difference is that this is a design decision that is comprehensible. It is marketed as an enclosed System. It has no midi out at all. But the way NI does it is neither fish nor meat as we say here. For version 1.1 or 1.2 i would say ok but it has advanced over several updates which indicates this is not an issue for NI.

Maschine was not designed for a primarily hardware setup with lots of external gear. However, you can already control, sequence and automate not just notes but every parameter of any external MIDI hardware within Maschine's sequencer using editor plugins instead of MIDI CC. If your hardware doesn't have an editor plugin, you can make your own or download an existing one with CTRLR which is free.

yeah, sure and i know it is not primarily hardware based. It is just weird and i haven't seen a similar thing before, that a device with a hardware midi out on its back can only send notes through it. Just weird and they should fix it soon (they should have actually fixed this long time ago).

I am aware that this is only one type of usage for the maschine and alot of the other stuff is partly even groundbraking but this area they have messed up.
