It doesn't make any sense to me to make everyone who has bought a Maschine in the last 3.5 years wait an extra month for no reason whatsoever, for the benefit of nobody whatsoever, so I'm going to go ahead and believe that the current update status actually reflects the update status, which means the update isn't ready yet. ;)

But yeah, of course, it'll be ready when it's ready, like the last big Traktor update that arrived before the F1 went on official sale, or Maschine 1.7 that arrived after the published 1st September releease date. But I'd prefer not to think that it's ready now, when it could be released for the benefit of every current owner of Maschine now!

They have been working on this update since before they announced they where working on this update. I bet it's done and they are sitting on it. I just really have a good feeling especially when they have been so good with public betas in the past. This is marketing and promotions.

I'll be grateful whenever the update gets here and thank NI for their relentless striving to improve an already great product. (I wish the software side would of made great en roads over the years). Anyway thank you NI for the generous free gifts we will be receiving with the 1.8 update (Massive & forgotten the other) because I'm so blown away and excited to receive these gifts. :p

Question: What happens to all the hundreds of people who bought Komplete 8 & Ultimatum last year will they receive a 2nd copy? :(

If they follow what they've done before then you'll probably get a serial, but it'll be linked to your Maschine serial and you won't be able to transfer this 2nd serial to anyone.

Id think letting us have it early would be a good thing, it gives them a chance to fix any issues we find before the new controller is released, and we will create more buzz/hype than a few videos for the update. I google everything, if you get a lot of results with positive feedback, it convinces you its a good idea

@jpeg - I was trying to look at it from the perspective of what would benefit every Maschine owner, but I'm not going to take you on any further because I know you're on fire at the moment!

yeah well, i would rather they did the Beta work themselves and released a solid 1.8.. i have zero interest in getting a rushed out 1.8 just to keep zealots happy to then have 1.8.1 three weeks afterwards..

    It's hard to say.
They may just have a separate download link with a Maschine dependent installer or that requires The Service Center to see Maschine for authorization instead of just a serial number.

If they let the community openly beta test it before launching then when it came to launch yes there might be a wealth of videos posted on youtube etc of people showcasing the product but there also might be just as much negative feedback and bug reporting on videos and in forums that potential buyers might stumble across when researching the product.

If PT wasn't so behind the times in so many ways - it would work. Almost every other DAW has rich interface for performing various actions by either MIDI, custom keybindings, etc. What do you expect NI to do with a closed architecture like Slow Tools? Avid has been a leader so long that they never had to innovate - and only in the last couple years have they bothered to add any competitive features. I honestly don't know why anyone bothers with Slow Tools unless they have an HD rig and full desk - in which case its awesome. For home or project use its a real piece of garbage.

Also, your childish rant was pathetic - simmer down.

    +1

NI is definitely out ahead in this market. They will be waiting for the MPC units to deploy, and we'll see the next big offerings in the Maschine line sometime in the future. MKII merely makes Maschine homogenous with their other hardware - if anyone really thinks colored pads was their competitive offering - think about it again.

The benifit of a project home studio using protools is taking it to the studio with HD. With that said I agree 100 with you about Pro Tools they don't innovate because they *** ****** ****** ****. Sonar has been 64bit for so long I forgot it was ever 32bit. But look at the forum and you see why it is the way it is. You complain about Pro Tools you get 50,000 fanboys trying to bite your head off. That's why I say to people in forums everything can't be all peaches and cream you have to voice your opinion good and bad so your favorite company can make significant progress within a decent time period. Without those complaints what is the motivation? They can just keep putting out damn near the same things over and over again adding a digit and collecting your hard earned money. Hell just look at EA and Madden lol perfect example.

Lethal real talk bro read between the lines. How long has it been since they announced this update and how long has it been since we had an update? Also they are showcasing a video of someone using the software. Me personally and this is just my opinion but I think it's pretty f'd up that we don't have the update before they drop the MKII. Also if it was still in beta how the hell would they know it would be out of beta and final testing before Oct. 1rst don't they have to ship the **** to a bunch of places? I don't know about you but my Maschine came with a 1.0 DVD for Mac and PC. If they are still in beta woh talk about pushing it to the last minute.

because people are musicians and have certain needs which is what this business is predicated on, if it was just about getting something free you'd be at trader joes right now eating up all the free samples.

    People don't need it.
Once it's released the same people will moan about something else instead of making music.

I wonder if I could give the version of Massive that comes with the 1.8 update to a friend of mine, seeing I already have Massive via my Komplete 8 bundle.

    Anyone know?

It'll probably be NFR, and require Maschine as a qualifying product, I'm guessing* not

    *you never know
