Maschine 2.0: Do shorter scenes loop through the longest scene?

I haven't got my hands on my copy of 2.0 yet but based on a few videos I've watched on YouTube no matter how short you make a scene it will loop until the longest scene stops. IMO it acts the same way as Maschine 1 but you can see how long the scenes are. I was thinking that shorter scenes will stop playing unless you wanted to loop them. Anyone know if this is this is the case or will we be able to make the shorter scenes do what we thought they would do? IMO seeing how short a scene is doesn't make a difference if it still loops through the longest scene.

looks that way:( pretty pointless i think, unless someone can explain the benefits of seeing something that will loop anyway
i was hoping for more flexible arrangement of scenes overlapping etc

It's the same as 1x in this regard. You can extend the pattern length that you do not want to repeat so there is blank space. Seeing the length does help with this because it is easy to see what patterns are shorter and the exact length. This also helps with other arranging to get an idea of what is what. You can also now hold record button and the right screen will allow you to pick a new bar length for the currently selected pattern or for recording a new pattern.

does the sound get cut off when the scenes end? for example you have a ping pong delay on a sound does that fade out into the next scene?

I agree but overall it = extra steps to be taken which somewhat interferes with the work flow. It does look better though. Hopefully they change it in the next update. I was looking forward to that feature (shorter scenes stopping instead of looping).

If you mean the old all note off issue when changing scenes or patterns, that has been fixed. :) Sustaining notes now play out the duration that you recorded them even when changing scenes or patterns. Effect tails have always continued past scene boundaries since that is audio related and not sequencer event related.

You mean a way to disable the auto looping feature? Would be a nice option though I would not use it. The loop to fill is a nice pattern based feature I wished some other sequencers had.

Lets say I do a 4 bar scene and then i add a 8 bar scene. I would like for that 4 bar scene to do just the 4 bars and not loop. I would like to be able to add (or make it loop by choice) the extra 4 bars in manually if I need it in the song.

i think it will be a little easier to lay out a track now but still a pain, overall i cant wait for mine to get here tomorrow:D
maybe it might be easier having a scene that's the length of the track and just copy and past bit here and there, and then the highlighted bits have sound and non highlighted have no sound going on. then you could have overlapping blocks etc
nah that wont work, just thought more about it lol

i can't believe they have taken the time to code in limitations from the last version when they could left it out or have a toggle on off button:confused: hopefully next update we will see more unlocking of features in the software.

A sound set to one-shot mode will continue through scene changes.

Since Maschine scenes loop patterns by default, you would just have a scene with a version of that 4 bar pattern with the length extended another 4 bars for blank space. I just see it as its own way of working though. If it was the other way around so that the patterns didn't loop by default, then you could say making the patterns loop would be taking extra steps.

I would be cool with just being able to disable the loop feature. I just want options instead of just one way. The scene could be looped as a default for all I care just as long as I can disable it. In the videos I watched it seemed as if looped is not only the default but the only way but then again 2.0 is so new that maybe the feature is there and they just didn't know it. Guess I'll find out when my studio gets here.

Quite disappointed really, I agree entirely but for an altogether different use, I would want to be able to drop another pattern in on the last bar for a break before the next section.

The most basic way of programming an entire arrangement which I'm surprised was never in from day one is just the ability to record flipping between patterns into the arrangement window, which is how I originally thought maschine worked. I can do this real time at the moment but why you can't just record this as a performance or record every bit of pattern flipping to a new longer pattern I don't know.
It's also a shame you can't just trigger the patterns via midi from a sequencer like the scenes (although will check that one as I've not tested it on v2 since I downloaded it)

so, if I have a scene with a pattern of length 8 in the first group, can I put two different patterns (each of length 4) in a second group - such that the long pattern plays all the way through, while the two shorter patterns play in sequence against it?

also, does anyone know if I can manually set the midi note assigned to each scene (for the purpose of using midi to sequence scenes from a DAW)? Before, maschine let you only set the root note. But all sequential scene notes were just an offset. This got really annoying, though, if you delete or re-order scenes in maschine, since your scene sequencing notes all get changed and any scene sequencing done in the DAW gets scrambled.

This is a feature that should be put into maschine. Its very easy in ableton to grab all your samples and do this when ya do it in maschine there is overlapping. And the pattern length should be fully adjustable for custom loops that may run over 4 bars.
