A couple of days ago, I received an answer from the technical support related to a ticket I opened about this problem.
They suggested me to do these operations:

    1. Check if Maschine 2.0 software is running in 64bit mode (the correct way).
    2. Follow the guide to improve Windows performance with Real Time Audio applications.
    3. Set buffer to 512 and quality to 44.100 on my audio hardware.

I checked those points but they were already set correctly.

Then I tried to unplug all the usb cables leaving just the mouse, the keyboard and the Maschine: nothing to do.

So I updated every motherboard and soundcard drivers and the bios.
Well, since the bios update, if the Maschine is connected to pc, Windows crashes on startup! If I unplug the Maschine, Windows starts normally.

Setting aside investigation about this weird new issue (simply, this could be Windows gone crazy..),
I tried to use 1.8 software, and I played it for two days with no bugs at all: no freezes, no graphic problems, all perfect.

In conclusion, despite of all the Windows problems, seems that issues related to Maschine are specifically bound to 2.0 version of software,
maybe due to an uncorrect resources management.

The boot problem may be do to your bios being set to boot from USB. Check that is not the case and adjust boot order. After you unplugged all devices but mouse and keyboard, did you further try different USB ports and cable? Did you try reinstalling 2.05 and make sure drivers are checked? How about trying without the mouse or just using Windows default mouse drivers?

Hi b-righteous, thanks for the reply.
Yes, probably you are right about the boot problem. Indeed I've used a USB pen drive to flash the bios..
thank you for the suggestion, I will check it.
About the USB cables and ports: I tried all the ports of my PC either USB 3.0 and USB 2.0, but I didn't try to change cable.
Anyway I think if the cable was defective, it shouldn't worked well neither with the 1.8 version.
I will try to reinstall the 2.05 version with the driver, maybe the current installation is corrupted.
    Thank you for the support.

I might have spoken too soon...another crash, this time while scanning sounds in the Maschine browser...I've sent the results of the Support Tool app to support, so let's see what they say.

Hey! Glad to see I'm not the only one.. Been awhile since anyone has talked abou it though. Are people still having this issue?

For me the same: every 5 - 15 min the hardware stops responding for ~ 20 seconds then restores itself. I play live, finger drum style stuff so that's a pretty big deal. :/ Same here that the issue doesn't happen with the 1.8 software. Win 7 64bit, i7, 4gb ram.

Anyone figure anything out for this yet?

Sounds like it may be your USB cable. Make sure to use no more than 6ft cable. Better to use the one supplied with Maschine and plug it directly into the USB port on your computer. You can also try different ports and unplug any unnecessary USB devices and hubs. The knowledgebase for Maschine shows the spec the USB cable needs to be for glitch free operation.

If it's not that then contact support as it may be an issue local to your computer. Antivirus, or another process interfering with Maschine etc. Make sure you update to 2.1 also.

Hi Guys, i have the same issue. The thing is: It worked perfectly with 1.8, then i upgraded to 2.1.2 (is the current one i believe) and now it freezes... like every 2 to 5 mins completely random.

The one thing i wanted to ask here: Where can i see which Maschine Controller Driver i have installed ( i have an iMac with 10.9.3) ?
Because i installed it a couple of time via the Service Center.. but it still says it should be installed .. hm..
    Any hints ?

Open Controller Editor, click About Controller Editor under the Controller Editor menu and it should say?

I'm on 2.1.0 on Mac OSX and it's been pretty much a model of stability...

Noob to Maschine 2.0 here. I am having a similar problem. Acer Aspire laptop, Win 7 64bit, i3 2.13 processor, 8gig ram, Tascam 122 usb.
I just bought this last week, loaded all the software, updates etc etc, When I played one of the finished tracks, the CPU monitor red lines and the sound cracks or cuts out. I thought my specs should be more than enough as this is the laptop i run my Traktor S4 and scratch pro without any issues at all. Any pointers will be greatly appreciated.

This is pretty much beyond my expertise...one of the admins may have to address this...

in the meantime, for anyone having issues, I'd recommend the following:

    1. Do a thorough cleanup on your computer and make sure your systems are up to date and running properly (always back up before making any changes, and try to keep notes of what you did for future reference and knowledge sharing).

    2. Make sure you have the most recent versions of the Maschine software and Control Editor (check the Service Center and N.I. website).

    3. Follow B-Righteous' advice regarding usb cables (very important; see his comment in the thread above).

    4. Log a ticket describing the issue and ask them to send you the NI Support Tool. The more info they can gather the more likely they will be able to iron out any future bugs.

    5. Follow whatever steps Support recommends (even if you've already done it). Usually they start with simple stuff and move on from there. If they suggest you re-install the software, follow the recommended procedure.

    6. Check if things are working normally now...if not:

    7. If you have a backup or second computer, try installing on it (you're allowed to do that with your license) to see if it runs properly on another machine/system?

I know it's really, really frustrating to have this happen and I sympathize with you all, cause I know what it is. I had the exact same problem until the 2.1 update and a fresh re-install as well. Files get corrupted, computers are a complicated patchwork of systems, hardware, software, firmware, 'humanware', etc., and sometimes it's no easy task to know why something isn't working. The main gist is to go for obvious or easy fixes first, check the results, and keep trying stuff, isolating issues where possible to see where the problem may be. Generally Support will recommend a re-install if they're not sure, as that wipes the slate clean. I'm not saying that programming bugs in regards to certain systems aren't possible...however right now the problems being described are across various platforms. They may simple appear to be related, or they may be...hard to say.

It would be great if there was a database set up online by N.I. where everyone could enter their specs, or better yet, upload the results of the NI Support Tool, and what (if any) bugs they have to cross-reference systems and possible solutions. My two cents worth...

Good Luck, and I truly hope you find some light at the end of the tunnel,
    Anton

Thanks for the reply, AntonA1. I am going to re-install on my studio desktop this weekend plus I just got a response from NI support which included a big ol' list of things to try. Hopefully that should fix it one way or another!

ok, so here is my update. After trying all the tips from NI product support and a few others I found online, my cpu was still redlining, so I bought a new motherboard, processor and ram cards to rebuild my old vista based Reason computer ( I tried loading it on the computer without checking that it isn't compatible with vista lol ). I am happy to say that it runs like a charm now, I cannot move the cpu bar no matter what I am loading and running ( touch wood it continues ) New specs AMD A series Black edition A8 3.5gig quad core processor, ASUS A88XM-PLUS motherboard, 8 gig 1866 ram Win 7 64 bit, 128 gig SD HD
    Thanks again for the help

    Hey Rockylion,
Thanks for the update and follow up. Good to hear that things are running smoothly for you now.
One question, are your projects loading quickly as well?

i ve been strugling with the same problem for the past 2 weeks and just solved it,
the hardware freezing and stuttering was obviously a usb problem, and here is how i fixed it:

    i have a asus sabertooth z97 motherboard

1- go to bios settings / usb configuration
2 - disable intel xHCI mode (smart auto by default)
3 - go to bios settings /onboard devices configuration
4 - disable ASmedia usb3 controller (not sure how this was affecting since i was using a normal usb 2 port ,,,)

if u have problems booting with all usb devices attached disable usb initialization in the boot menu (bios settings)
if u have a usb keyboard this means it will not be availble on boot and that way u cant hit the del key to enter bios but on the asus

site u have a nice tool that u run before restart to go directly to bios without pressing key called asus boot setting ;)
    hope it helps

I disabled xHCI mode in USB configuration of my BIOS and it seems like it solved the problems with controller freezing and random pixels dropout on both screens. At least I haven't noticed anything during 2 hours jamming, in comparison to glitches occurred every 5-20 minutes previously :)
    Thanks for the tips, guys!

I've got Maschine MK2, software version: 2.2.0, Windows 8.1, Asus N76 Notebook with USB3 ports.

well I'm a little late to the party but im having the exact same problem and I've tried it on 3 different machines,... my macbook pro, my dell XPS and my custom built studio machine with i7 4790 (4Ghz) 32 GB of Ram SSD drives etc,.... all with same result and i'm running Maschine software v. 2.4
I just bought this gear and I'm pissed! that it's doing this and it's also having the same problem mentioned above with my screens text looking funky and broken up?? is this what I get for $600?? I mean i had issues with my S8 controller as well freezing and the tech support sucked!! Last time I waste my money on NI products,... I won't even bother reporting this as I'm sure i'll get nowhere.
