@Cabbe Want to add that you may be able to get it to work as is by first deselecting the Recording Audio "Prefer Project Folder" option and in your OS, renaming the folder you have set up to "Maschine 2" and contains sub folder "Recordings" and make sure the alias in user Library for the "Maschine 2" folder is exact with capitols "Standard User Directory". Rescan and restart.

b-righteous. i really do appreciate all the help and tips you have put in this thread!!! unfortunately none of them have helped me.

i have the "prefer recording folder" unchecked because i don't want that option. so that's not the problem. and i have tried everything you suggested with copying the folder to another location and pointing the refs to that. I think i tried it all

what it comes down to i think is that i made the mistake of somehow "removing" the standard user folder from prefs. and since then no matter how many new folders i add or how much i rename the new folders i add "Standard User Directory" it doesn't work. Maschine now just defaults to a folder in my documents folder that i can not change anywhere. if i deleted the folder it just gets created again every time i open maschine

i have tried re-installing Maschine 3 times now. and i have followed the un-install info exactly as NI tell me to in their support file about re-install. But it's obvious that there is some preference file somewhere that has some info about the standard folder that doesn't get deleted. I have written to support but have heard nothing back yet. So there is really not much i can do other than hope they will answer to my support request :)

i totally agree with you, it shouldn't be that hard to just say "hey Maschine, i want you to record here" but for some reason it says back " Hey this is where i belong, not unless you know advanced algebra, this is where i'm staying" i think they could have simplified this process, i mean even my web browser lets my point to where i want my downloads to go, and to me thats i believe thats the same concept... just make it that easy... but hey i'm still loving maschine 2, i kinda just don't want to sample no more though.

Sorry my suggestions could not help. Only thing I can think is if you delete the DB3 files. On PC they are located in user>app data>local but don't know the path for Mac. There is some reference in there about the user path.

Warning! If you delete then this wipes out all the details of your libraries and Maschine will have to rescan all your Komplete, Maschine Library and user paths again.

Hopefully support will get back to you soon.

Oh, one last thing. I found out that Mavericks caches plist files so you have to reboot after deleting them for any change to take affect.

    Bump.

I'm having the same issue on a PC. Since I keep my project and audio files on a separate disk from my system files, I really want to be able to define the paths once and forget about it. Sure, I can keep maneuvering within the Save As dialog every time I create a new project, group, etc., but it's annoying as hell.

Has this issue ever been resolved? I have the same issue where there are three directories listed for user libraries, but I can only delete the one that I chose, which is on my external disk. Every time I go to save something in Maschine, it put's it in it's own folders on my system disk and I have never done that ever. Now my bits and pieces are all in different places. I want to use the one folder I created on my external drive and have Maschine be smart enough to always use that. IN fact the manual recommends using an external drive, but the software won't remember to.

Has anyone solved this issue? Ever since updating to 2.4.0 I've had major issues with Maschine. I don't have a "Standard User Directory" entry in the "Library/User" panel, and if I try to add any folder (literally can create a new folder anywhere on my computer with any bizarre name) I get a "duplicated location/path already exist" error EVERYTIME. And now when I attempt to save, Maschine defaults to "Save As". Why was Maschine 1 so easy to navigate to an external drive but Maschine 2 is a nightmare?? Support only tells me to reinitialize my database for every error I've tried getting them to tech...........

I was unable to get any help from technical support after a week of emailing back and forth .
I finally figure it out .... Newton's Apple.

    **Start Maschine
    Go to - Preferences- Library-User.
You should see that altered folder .(That is the " standard user directory" folder that you accidentally or voluntarily changed)
Click on that folder. This will bring up a dialog that will allow you to point to the default location .
    The default location is:[C:Users/Name/Documents/Native Instruments/Maschine2] .
    Rescan and Close
Now "standard user directory" resets back to default.
You may delete that annoying folder that Maschine keeps creating. Next time you start Maschine it won't be there.

**Very important, the change to that folder must be made from within Maschine's Preferences not in windows explorer.
