Solved Maschine 2.6.9 MIDI is screwed up again !??

can't get MIDI to work properly like it used to.... at all...

Used to be able to a drum kit on each group, set to "pads to MIDI notes", and one channel for each kit. If i needed a lead patch, I just set a single pad to it's own MIDI channel manually after.

Now "drum kit" mode looks stupid - it plays all the midi coming in! Or, it plays whatever pad is selected, from ALL midi channels...

current screenshot is how I USED TO be able to run it perfectly...and you can see MIDI is coming in on chan 2, all my notes are within C3... and I get NO sound.... NO midi appears coming into maschine, no notes are triggered in this mode.

Please help!

 

Forget DrumKit mode, currently, it's designed with the KKSMK2 in mind, use manual mode.

These are the settings you need:
Select all sounds, do "group midi batch setup > Sounds to MIDI Notes"
Then in Sound Input:

Looks exactly like how I've been trying to set it up... but you show the output settings ??
I'll try again, paying attention to those...

My sound MIDI output was "none" so I set to "default" like you have - as I expected, no diff.

- Both groups are "sounds to MIDI notes"
- Group MIDI is set to correct (I'm using C2 for one, C3, all the MIDI parts are starting on the right notes), I played ALL 88 into that channel so I know the drums aren't just playing off another octave (unless it's oct -2)
- I know MIDI is getting to Maschine because...

If I set one sound to "HOST" instead of "default" input, then ALL sounds of that group play in unison on every single MIDI note in... yet as soon as I set back to default I get NO MIDI.

It's literally ALL (sounds play at once) or NOTHING plays.

Cubase 9.0.3...absolute latest.

 

I'm ALMOST ready to resign myself to 1 Kit in "drumkit mode" : 1 instance of Maschine... 8 Kits = 8 Maschine instances...

but what about my old projects? Maybe I should go check one and see if MIDI that was working is now broken...

ok I tried a past project and MIDI works! The difference? I had MIDI group in setup as per usual, but the MIDI sounds were setup for "All midi channels" ...so Group set to Ch1, and the sounds set to Default, and ALL channels in...

Went to the new project, set it up that way, and... NOTHING. still no sound. unless i hit drumkit mode...then ALL groups play off the same MIDI input. What are they doing with KKS ??? Did the attempt to add KKS just F#@$ up all the past MIDI settings? I don't understand why the old project works though...

What version of Maschine are you using, D-One?

 

update... Regressed to 2.6.8... my current project just crashes Maschine... (the one using 2.6.9 earlier)
New project - MIDI works right off the bat. I just set Group to "sounds -> midi notes" and set the channel...drag/drop pattern and it works.

NI let me know when you've got 2.6.99 or 2.7 ready to go with MIDI fixed. thanks!!

 

Maybe related but I've been having serious issues with Drag & Drop since upgrading to 2.6.9.

 

The current version. Can you attach a small Cubase project with a 1 drum group setup so i can have a look? It's working fine for me here.

all appears to be working! Not fun being the "guinea pig"... but it feels great to post, then get an update that fixes the issue in a few days!

I would like to take a MIDI file that contains the musical data for multiple sounds in the one file and bring this file into Maschine so I can then assign each of the musical parts to a sound and pad on the Maschine Mikro. I would also like to inspect or see the notes in the file for each part. Do I have to involve another program along with Maschine to do this? If so, what program would you recommend? I would assign the sounds from Kontakt, for example.
