Presently I have Maschine 2.0.5 running on my computer, with all packs, instruments etc. updated. Maschine 1.8 is no longer present on my maschine...

Is it possible to re-install Maschine 1.8 from the original disk that came with my Mk2 and have both versions operational?

    Thanks

Usually when you do an update the older version does not vanish from your computer. When I updated from 1.8 to 2.0 the both versions were within the NI folder…
Do not know what some people do with their software : )

1.8 should still be there unless you deleted it

I, uh, deleted it. I was REALLY running out of space on a 256 GB SSD, and thought "what the heck, I can free up some space here", since I was trying to figure out how to get Komplete 9 on there at the time as well.

Eventually, I just bit the bullet and cloned the drive to a 500GB SSD, but now I don't have 1.8. But I do have my original disks.... I think it might be OK, but would like to find out if anyone has actually done this before me before I take the chance on screwing up my 2.0 installation.....

(All these problems would go away if Ableton and NI would declare a truce and make it so that the two programs would communicate simply and easily (e.g., drive an Ableton drum kit/instrument with a NI kit/instrument and vice versa.) Both are tremendously useful programs that overlap, but it a great way..... and together they obliterate the competition....

(And, of course, NI would correct its Midi limitations, and Ableton would use other channels than #1....... fantasies, fantasies )

Think of what the world would be if the US, India, and China shared medical research resources.....

Maybe I can do that and just specify different locations for the folders and vst's...
    Am thinkin' on it .....

OTH, maybe it is not really worth the effort.....

don't even think about moving your VSTs, that will cause all sorts of problems.

    i just moved the samples.

But you didn't re-install 1.8 after it had been deleted, like I did .....

I guess I was concerned about old Maschine 1.8 dll's replacing newer (Maschine 2) versions, but that may not be an issue if 1.8 installs .dll's that are different from 2.0 (all the other VST updates should be ok, since they are independent of Maschine)

It may not be an issue, I just need a warm, fuzzy feeling.... :)
(Oh well, it is time for a clone backup anyway......)

Maschine 1.8 is a separate install to Maschine 2 with separate vsts.
