Sorry for the thousandth time this has probably been asked, but due to NI’s practices of hiding or changing features with every update, I’m not sure how to do this or if it’s even possible...

In Scene mode, I want the pads to send MIDI to Ableton so I can record an arrangement with Maschine scenes in Ableton. I saw a video on Lynda.com where in the Maschine/Ableton tutorial, when he pressed the Scene keys, it was sending MIDI to Ableton. I no longer see how that is possible. I see in Maschine where it gives options for Scene, Section, and Lock. I have Ableton sending MIDI notes on clips triggering the scenes in Maschine, and that works. But how do I set the Maschine pads to send and receive MIDI in Scene mode?

    Any help is greatly appreciated.

This works for Sections, but it does nothing with Scenes. I cannot get that functionality to work. Any ideas?

Did you check all the key range in ableton midi clip?

Am I missing something? You maybe missing the midi input device setup? I just did this in S1 in order to record my scene changes. I'm pretty sure that's what happened with me, but I haven't been able to get back on it to follow up. Other than making sure the input and output is set to the midi channel you selected in Maschine.
I'm not an Ableton user so I'm not sure if that'll help you.

So long story short even though I was on the right recording track and was able to switch scenes on the device, the recording input was not set to Maschine, so the DAW never recorded the key switches. That's the only thing I can think of.

I see what I initially failed to understand, the difference between Scenes and Sections in Maschine. I still cannot get anything with the Scene mode, but the Section mode is what I was going after. So that is good I guess, as long as I don’t need the Scene mode for anything.

Right because I'm thinking since you're triggering them from Ableton you don't need to worry about capturing the key presses from Maschine.

Scene/Section changes can be sent to DAW and recorded, that's what the OP is about so he does need to capture it.

The thing is Maschine kind of changed the terminology when Ideas View was introduced before that Sections were Scenes so watching outdated videos can be confusing.

Scene Mode = Ideas View = Song = AL Session view look-a-like
Section Mode = Song View = AL Arrangement view look-a-like

So, Is the issue fixed now?
