Hi all, new Maschine user as of yesterday, loving it so far! :)

had one question, I've been getting an unusual amount of cpu spikes at seemingly random moments and I have a pretty powerful system,

Intel i7 920 w/ 6GB of RAM (though running XP 32 bit so only 3GB recognized).

Audio interface is Roland RBUS PCI card with ASIO driver which is hardly state of the art but hasn't given me any problems thus far.

My buffer size is 128 which has been working fine on Cubase 4 even with full mixdowns with lots of hungry plugins etc. I'd rather not go up to 256 if possible with the added USB latency and I have a similar problem with Reaktor as well. In fact, these are the only two plugins that give me issues.

Is there a problem with multicore support? I know many Cubase users had similar problems with hyperthreading on but I've been lucky, however these spikes even occur when the NI stuff is in standalone mode. Any thoughts?

Also, if relevant I am running the 1.5 beta.

HT is still a no-no on an audio machine for the most part, due to the fact that 95% of the plugins out there don't multithread.

If you're running multiple threads on one core, you're going to have to split the processing power. Therefore, your 2.66 GHz core's appearing as two 1.33 GHz cores to your plugins- you see the problem.

Unfortunately i'm not a computer wizz, I'm using Mac's for all my music and up until I got the NI Maschine i have had no problems, but as much as I like the controler the software is so hungry on CPU it is not posable to use it to it's full potential. I have found some of the functions very frustrating to use in a live situation. It must have been designed by a comity. I did try the new 1.5 but it was a lot worse on cpu, so much so that I had to remove it and go back to 1.1 .. "How long has this product been on the market"?

I've found that 1.5 runs smoother than 1.1

    EW,

I know this is not your job at all, as you go over the call of duty to help us as it is. But if I were to post my BIOS settings, etc. Could you provide some input on what may stand out to you as a sore thumb?

    Peace,
    JAB3
