Is it possible to use maschine with the traktor kontrol x1, without maschine hardware? I like the software for remixing in traktor, but most of the time i'm not liking to carry a whole maschine controller into my smaller gigs. X1 has midi control, so can i use the hotcue (midi) buttons instead of the maschine pads, without the maschine controller?

you can, but it won't integrate with the Software any way like the Maschine Controller does.

so, my next question, obviously: How?. I can't seem to find any controller mapper like traktor has build in. I don't have an x1 yet, but i have the stand alone controller editor, supplied with maschine, in wich the x1 mappings are visible. Where do i need to configure wich midi signal is routed to a pad? i will only need the pads, i'm not interested in on-the-fly editting sounds. I use maschine as an sample player, wich is not build in TP, unlike SSL =) I'm digging deep in maschine's menus, but i can't seem to find an midi mapper. thanks for the quick response, btw =)

i am talking about Maschine Software in Standalone mode, integrating with the Maschine Controller

you seem to be using it in the Maschine Controller in MIDI Mode?

press Shift + Control, to flip back to the Maschine Controller integrating with the Maschine Software.

i don't think i made my point clear. I want to use the maschine software with the x1 controller. Without maschine hardware. I thought it was possible via MIDI, but i can't seem to find the right edit menu in the software. Other ideas maybe?

but my point is that the Maschine Controller is fully integrated with the Maschine Software, so you would miss most of the advantages if you used another Controller.

if you do buy the X1, then i am sure you can use the Controller Editor to change the buttons on the X1 so they send MIDI Notes and yes these MIDI Notes would play the Maschine sounds.

if you want to play a kit in the Maschine Software with another MIDI device you need to use Sound MIDI Batch Setup - from the Group dropdown menu. and choose Sounds to MIDI Notes.

But all this features are also available without the maschine hardware? Again, i'm looking for simpler options to use maschine in my set. And in Live, i only use maschine as an sample player. I don't need any more than pads. So i think i would miss any functionality, I'm preparing my kits/samples/performance sounds at home, with the whole hardware. Now i'm carrying every weekend a second bag to have maschine with me. Not forgetting the wear of all the travelling at the controller, and the possibility that it could be stolen.

no, you need the Maschine Controller to to have all the features.

but as you say, in terms of what you want to do at your gigs, then you could make do with the X1 Controller instead.
