    ...over ethernet?

I have a master PPC with PT 8 and Leopard, and a slave Westmere with VE Pro. If I get Maschine, it'll be installed on the slave. The Macs are connected via ethernet. Is it possible to control software on the master from the Maschine controller connected to the slave?

    Thanks.

You should be able to configure the maschine's midi mode to echo its midi output over ethernet and receive it on the slave computer.

I don't think it's possible to control the maschine software via ethernet as it's a direct usb connection to the software as opposed to a midi connection.

I dunno though, could be wrong about that.

Thanks. If this is true, it will do just fine. The controller connected directly to the Mac Pro, and the software installed on the same machine. I just hope I can send CC messages from the controller via ethernet to the PPC.

You should be able to by using the network setting in the Sound/Midi control panel in the utilities folder.
Latency can be a factor but it can be refined by reducing network traffic. ir. turn off file sharing etc.
Just make sure that the ports aren't blocked by the firewall.
