    hey,
i use maschine like shown in the tutorial, it works good so far but i have problems with the loudness of the maschine kits and samples.

because of the already modified gains in maschine and effect presets like comression, metaverb, maximizer etc. on the maschine kits it sounds like the maschine drums drown out the live instruments etc.

can somebody tell me how i can fix it to have the same loudness with maschine like with the ableton internal stuff?
maybe its a adjustment at the gain of the external audio effect tool (this is set to zero in my template).
an other question is how do you solve the problem that its not possible to rout a effect just on the snare in the drum kit group of maschine?. do you put the kick snare hh etc each in a single group and then put the ableton effects like compression, reverb on the single sample groups or do you use the maschine effects?

Hello! I love that you put this tutorial up. Much thanks and highly appreciated!

I do have a question I want to figure out. How can i get automation in Maschine to show up in ableton's arrangement? I am afraid that I'm right in thinking that it's impossible. For example, having different bass patterns being recorded as a MIDI into ableton's sample slots.. and then being able to apply automation to each.

The only solution I have is to completely separate my synth from maschine and use it in ableton alone. If that is the case, does anyone suggest a method to be able to use my maschine to input notes for that (I don't have a midi keyboard yet, just the maschine)?

Is there any change to "best of both worlds" with the 1.6 Maschine?

The only parameters in maschine that ableton can "see" are the macros. Say you want to use your atomation lane in ableton to controll the filter cut-off of a bassline in maschine. You would first have to map the filter cut-off to a macro. Live will then be able to send midi to this macro via the automation lane.
I'll have to check when I get home but live should also be able to recieve midi from the macros.

This chap seems to be having similar problems regarding Live not picking up on Maschine's macros.

Can someone update this routing setup for use with Maschine 1.6? I don't want to download 1.6 just yet... as I find 1.5 to work perfectly for my needs.

I don't know if the menus in Maschine are different in 1.6 but yeah... if anyone wants to modify this tutorial to reflect 1.6, that would be great!

I don't quite understand (sorry the maschine is new to me still!) Say I have all my loops down (minus the effects, that's to do when i mix in ableton). Do I have to be in Midi mode or Maschine control mode if I were to assign effects in maschine to ableton's macro?

Ok i managed to right click on a knob and it allows me to assign to 8 macro slots. I don't understand how it works in ableton though? If anyone can help out that'd be great.

I was just playing around with this today and got it to work. So Maschine as a VST in ableton. In maschine you assign whatever parameter to a macro. Then in the X-Y Maschine box in ableton click on the little arrow just right of the power button and the panel will extend. Click on configure (it will turn green) then click on the macro knob you want to see/control in ableton (should be located in the MCR portion of the Group panel in maschine. Should then populate in ableton. You'll then be able to access it from any of the areas in ableton you usually access parameters from. Clip and arrangement view.

I can play my sounds on the maschine controller itself and it will show up on the corresponding track in Ableton, but I can't play them on keys..what am I doing wrong? I have my controller set up in both Maschine and Ableton.

    Midi controller issue

everything works fine in this tutorial, at first i had some issues with the AU/VST misconception but, i'm already done, thanks a lot... BUT with this template i lost the ability to control live with Maschine (SHIFT+CONTROL in hardware) i open old projects in ableton and the maschine as a midi controller works absolutely perfect, but with this new template nothing seems to respond, do anyone knows what i'm doing wrong?

ps: my english is not quite good, i hope you understand.

    KORG M1 Legacy Issue

thank you sooo much for putting so much time & effort into this tutorial. it's simply amazing!

my only problem as of now: all presets on the korg m1 soft synth vst (from the legacy collection) do not work because they're all configured to receive midi only on channel 1 (and that's where the drum patterns reside in your setup).

all other softsynths, eg the arturia collection, don't have this problem...

does anybody have an idea how to solve this? i wouldn't want to re-edit every single m1 preset....

    Ableton/Maschine Workflow

Thanks so much for this thread. Everything works great but I have a question regarding the transport functions. The great thing about maschine is the workflow, correct? While this template allows you to use maschine as an external instrument (which is awesome), you lose the workflow of working in Maschine. (i.e. you have to switch Maschine to midi control mode to use the transport functions for live).

What I would like to do: Be able to work in Maschine as if in standalone mode and have it recorded to each individual track in Ableton like it is setup in the template.
(I use Ableton for Vocals and also some of their great patches as well as Mastering). It would save the time of exporting the files to Ableton.

Can I do this without having to export each individual track from Maschine and dropping it into Ableton?

It's great to be able to record Maschine's sounds into Ableton and use ableton's warp functions for samples. Maybe i'm asking for too much. Thanks in advance

When Maschine is a plugin, it is slave to the host transport, therefore you lose control over the play start/stop from Maschine.

This has been a huge request for a very long time, to be able to press play on the Maschine and have it start the DAW. Another is to be able to press play on Maschine and have it just start Maschine.

    Thanks Saint Joe,

I suspected as much. At least there is the drag and drop functionality with Maschine which is a huge advancement in my opinion. It would be nice to have a seemless work around to have the Maschine workflow & plug-in direct mastering capabilities. But until then I guess i'll have to use Maschine to make my skeleton tracks and throw them into Ableton to polish them off.

    Again, Many thanks and blessings
(your youtube channel is my go to btw - Where I first saw the capabilities of the Maschine hardware & also how to get the most out of Ableton. I appreciate the hard work you put in and put out there to the community)
