Recently system restored and factory checked

    MASCHINE DAY 1 Setup Nightmare

where do I start, well how about flash backs to Conectiv Torq 2years of hell with 3 hi spec laptops when all Macs work fine birthday present 2007

Ok so I eventualy get the disc running, it takes ages , ok theres 5GB of sounds and data so I just have to deal with it, but then it goes crazy.

Service Center refuses to Update (makes temp file on desktop) says if this problem persists delete folder
for Service Center and download the update, I noticed the book said 1.5 and not 1.65 :/ purchased today. Very Good net connection, says ERROR 3 Server failed to connect but surfs the NI website without any trouble.
All permissions to firewall given and even turned off which I really shouldnt do!

Now while all this is going on Service Center dosnt pop up once with Register!
Which it should have done! IF it had let me register then I probably would have been able to update but no! it gets worse.
I have to go the long way round, goto NI site get all 3 updates, uninstall all, reinstall all, try to connect to Service Center again about 100 times, sending error reports, all as Instructed and nothing :/

Eventualy the Register Window pops up, so I go through the process..

Now I'm stuck again Where is my Product Key? Its not in the manual? or CD?

WHy do you people make my life a nightmare everytime I buy something :(
Is it on the box, in my email inbox?
So 5 plus hours wasted , going through the FAQs etc registering at forums.

I've noticed a massive ammount of complaints from Windows users to a number of your hardware and software products in the forums over the years and while with Mac Books they seem fine, now we dont use Windows 98se anymore we use Windows 7 or XP with SP3 which has been very stable running Cubase and Pluggins, this install should be a breaze, all my other sound cards and midi gear work great through all my laptops, dont want to be a hater trust me I wanna make beats!

UPDATE: I have seen that Control Editor is Activated and playing with Service Center tabs I can now see where to Enter a Serial Number to get an activation number to another blardy tab ffs. So I rip it out, turn it over and i've got a bar code with letters and numbers mine has 11 characters is this correct? I try to enter the code and nothing shows at all I hit the cancel and edit button and try again, its useless, I'm sure first try I saw some letters appear in the first segment, will check the box for more codes. OK I try to enter the LONG NUMBER along the thin barcode on the box but it only has 14 characters, and then another 5 going up, tried both, nothing,

    RE: SERVICE CENTER
WHY ISN'T THERE A HINT THAT TELLS US WHERE THE SERIAL NR IS LOCATED?

Serial Nr: Located on Rear of CD Case, NOT in inlay card or box.

Activation Key? still searching for it.

I haven't fully read your post, I'll be honest. But isn't the serial number on the CD case? On the back, I think.

Ahhhaaa! there it be! in tiny tiny print, thank you sir!

    UPDATE

Ok Ive entered the long code and its given me the System ID

tried pasting that into Activation Code, its all I had,

So where do I get the activation code? this is nuts its been 9hours since my 2pm purchase UK time now midnight Uk time.

@Mr36 trust me I really appreciate the help ! but to the NI people this just makes me want to get an MPC even if OS 2.0 does have a few bugs, I can see why people like them.

I'm not really sure... I thought all I did was enter the serial number from the CD case into Service Center and that's it.

    Check your e-mail?

After inserting the SERIAL Nr: and getting the System ID

DONT WORRY ABOUT FILLING IN BLANK ACTIVATION FORM
DIRECTLY BELOW.thats only there to confuse the hell out of you.

Instead Click on the Activation TAB further to the top left.

then clcik Activate bottom right Button, download any updates , and wait for ages as it tries to load 5GB of samples.

Finaly got it routed for audio and did a ASIO SYNCH TEST

1st few were ok but then a horrible crash - reboot again

    Not had 1 go yet :/ 1:00AM

    Heres my Crash Screen:

Todays Crash Updates, Latency, Overclocking, Ram.

Hi people, I managed to last until about 3am but with bruttle fibromyalgia beating me in the ribs and back I had to crash out.

I got it "slightly" working, I managed to crash it changing the buffering sample settings, this Roland Soundcard will go down to 11ms in Cubase & Torq, 38ms in Maschine, with lots of buffering and latency added it was usable but as soon as you hit play after loading a kit and a groove pattern its SYSTEM OVERLOAD RED LINES and literaly grinds to a halt like a robot technics deck :) I should record it  , but I will need to add 4GB RAM (which is a hack for this machine) so it will take a while and more money, Install Windows 7 (more money), and all my stuff from scratch, apps, plugs, research and overclock my this machine Samsung N510 12"netbook Intel Atom, Ion Graphics,
it runs Cubase SX3 with a Roland Soundcard very well, latency down to 11ms, but MASCHINE is VERY processor hungry! This PC also runs Torq Coneqtiv and alot of M-Audio Gear without any problems (after some time)

I'm going to keep it for now as it goes up by £150 on Monday! so the guy at GAK told me, so I got a good deal, and like Torq I realise I will probably have to get a Mac Book Pro, by any means.

For now I do have a more powerful Acer Aspire 2.0ghz 4GB Ram, and a M-Audio Firewire Soundcard to try out, if that dont work, I will be forved to get a Mac Book Pro.
    like Bill Gates cares.

As far as MASCHINE goes it dosnt help take the strain off the CPU at all!
it actualy strains the nads off it! When you spend £550 (as of Monday) ona new MASCHINE you expect your PC to breath a big sigh of relief!. So my Cubase SX 3 and Axiom-25 USB Midi Keyboard with all the drum pads,
+ Roland Soundcard works ok, and its just a Midi Controller Cubase and quite a few plugins.

UPDATE: the Samsung N510 with Intel Atom N280 1.66GHz 2GB DDR2 RAM doesnt quite cut it,
I realise it was a hasty purchase after watching the NI videos and the £150 price rise tommorow, I am installing again to a:

Acer Aspire 5920G : Intel Core2 Duo CPU
    T7300 @ 2.00GHz
    3.00 GB of RAM
    XP SP3
    Optimised for music making.

wifi not working so need to fix that so I can Activate and test. which means a road trip to a network techy
as I have messed the settings up, network settings are not my forte.

To be honest, I haven't even read it all. I stopped after I told him where to find the serial number...

And the question of why there isn't a hint for where the serial number is... If you can't find the conveniently and obviously located serial number, I'm not sure a hint is going to help you. If you can even find that. :p

Hang on, back the truck up - you tried to install Maschine on an Atom propelled PC?

Anyway, the PC you are now installing has the same processor as the 3.5 year old PC I've got Maschine installed on - should be fine.

@Mr36 @pseudowilliams no thanks for the snide comments, I had a partial stroke and lost alot of vision in my right eye, the serial number is in very small text.

When I bought Conectiv Torq DJ equipent certain Serials and Info was on the box,
I naturaly thought the info might be there, I usualy find the Product Key inside the CD case inlay. Putting the Product Keys on the back makes it easier for pirates to copy the codes when the boxs get opened in some shops.

@Lethal-Pizzle - Correct, as previously stated, the Intel Atom dosnt quite cut it, my fault, but it dose actualy work a bit. The Acer should be ok, and if have problems with that a new Macbook Pro should be here in a few days. cheers.

Oh, my comments were not snide, just tongue-in-cheek. Teasing. That is all. I do it a lot and I believe I did try to help you anyway...

Glad you're up and running anyway. Or will be soon. Are you going to use the Mac for music only? If you can afford (and want to), I would.

Not to be ugly but............at least be honest enough to admit that NOTHING about your situation was NI's fault.
Sorry about your health issues but neither that nor the trying to use a ATOM can be blamed on them.
Seems your post was based on displaced hostility caused by preventable issues.

Yes correct I admitted that I made a mistake with the Samsung N510, It runs Cubase SX3 and plenty of VSTi's Effects Filters, plays Crysys type games well, it does actually run Maschine just as long as the arrangements are very light. Seriously though I have gone all out to make sure I'm up to speed, I now have a MacBook Pro 13" 2.3ghz 4GB Ram Intel i5, and I want to run it with Logic Express 9 (all bought and paid for) but before I could even load Maschine I ran the demo tune in Logic Express 9 and it System Crashed! just great , I was pretty annoyed at this for £901 (amazon) , full system and app update, problem solved with much better CPU performance, but now like in other posts I notice here that Maschine update 1.6.2 and Logic both performs much slower on more powerful Macs which is concerning, I am lucky enough that I also have also just ordered a new Acer Aspire i5 2.53GHz, Windows 7 Premium, 4GB Ram, in the event that I have to send the Macbook back for a faster one (and I might have to) it's slightly faster on paper, and I have the chance to Change the Macbook for a more powerful one, as the guy in these forums has the i7 with 8GB Ram MacBook Pro and is also having System Crashes.. cheers all.
