    Dear MASCHINE+ users,

We have just released MASCHINE+ 1.3.2 that includes a number of changes to the Native Operating System. These changes will allow us to further improve stability and also lay the groundwork for some upcoming features that we hope to release in the near future.

    MASCHINE+ 1.3.2
Whilst MASCHINE+ 1.3.2 mostly contains underlying technical and stability improvements to Native OS, there are also some small user-facing benefits. These are as follows:
    • This update will include the latest Factory Library, fixing the falsely added Tag “Fix!”
    • Users will also be able to deploy the license information of third party packages used in the MASCHINE+ operating system to the SD cards
    Firmware Update
In addition to the above, we are working hard to address the previously reported issues with the MIDI IN behaviour of MASCHINE+. These changes are not part of the MASCHINE+ 1.3.2 update, but will be made available via a firmware update (an installer that is run on a computer with MASCHINE+ connected via USB) in the coming weeks.

MIDI IN changes will also be included in a future MASCHINE+ system update (date TBC).

    MASCHINE+ 1.4
Now that we have successfully tested and released version 1.3.2, we will focus on preparing our next major feature release (1.4). This release will introduce some very cool new features - details to be shared soon!

    Best,
    The MASCHINE+ Team

Great to hear about the focus on stability improvements, and that you’re working on the MIDI In issue. Curious to hear what’s coming in 1.4. (An autosampler I hear? Would be amazing)

THX. This was a smooth update process.

P.S. Stability updates are more important than fancy feature updates on Powerpoint presentations!

    What does this mean?

“Users will also be able to deploy the license information of third party packages used in the MASCHINE+ operating system to the SD cards”

does that mean we can use third party licensed kotakt banks now?

thanks! I'll update ASAP. Also happy to hear the MIDI issues are being adressed.

"3rd party licences" eh? I foresee an influx of new content on the horizon.. whether that will be only limited to Kontakt libraries remains to be seen.

I agree stability is important. However there is one very important stability thing you need to execute yourself (maybe you know this already). That is the provided SD card. Make a backup of it, buy a decent one (preferably not microSD) and use that one instead. The supplied SD card is a root cause of many stability issues. I had many crashes on my machine+ in the first few months. Untill i decided i needed more space and got myself a 256GB card of a decent brand. Since then i never experienced any crashes anymore. The only thing that occasionally still happens is a spontanious reboot when complex projects are loaded (rarely).
I've ventilated this information in many music groups, and most people have experienced the same since upgrading their SD card. I don't think the storage capacity of the card plays any role. My bet (as an Msc. embedded system engineer) whould be that the supplied microSD->SD adapter is the cause, so you might try to change that as well. However to be sure i'd just buy a regular SD card without adapter, as they tend to cause problems anyhow.
I'ts a pitty that NI is not fixing this issue in the delivery chain. Since it is a small investment and seems to make a huge difference.

No, it looks like it's about being compliant with open source software licenses that are being used in maschine+'s operating system. Basically legal informations that manufacturers are required to give their users access to when they make use of open source software. I guess there was no way to consult this list before and they just provided one.

What a dream... No. It's just legal license txt files for the stuff used in the device that aren't made by NI. Say the M+ has a linux package for handling the SD card reader or something, that license will be spit to the SD. This has nothing to do with Kontakt. It's legal stuff as Soak Pencil said.

They have to do it anyway but maybe reb pushed it a bit lol

Kontakt instruments still wont open properly and audio driver still struggles to work every now and then. And yes, I have the latest upgrades installed... Exactly what kind of stability issues have been addressed?

Hey Maschine+ Team, thanks for information!

Due to the fact that "Native OS" is build with Yocto and contains GPLv2 licensed software, also contains GPLv3 licensed software, I have some questions still not answered and not fulfilled with this release:

    - Which changes are made to the (GPL) software? It's easier to explain that in patches I think.
    - Where can we download the patches, sourcecode to the used (GPL) software which is used within Native OS build by Yocto?

As stated in the GPLv3 (https://www.gnu.org/licenses/gpl-3.0.en.html) - §6. last sentence:

Corresponding Source conveyed, and Installation Information provided, in accord with this section must be in a format that is publicly documented (and with an implementation available to the public in source code form), and must require no special password or key for unpacking, reading or copying.

    - Where can we find such installation information such as "installation information"?

I haven't found that information on the website yet, got only license information via Support request but still not complying the GPLv2 and GPLv3.

    Bye
    Björn

There are several possibilities to increase the stability drastically in addition to the hardware (I think you are maybe right with the sd card but not with the adapter, shouldn't be a problem). We'll see within the next month direction NI wants to follow.

Yes, I never trust in that cheap crap asseccories that are only good for marketing purposes like "we deliver a complete ready to use solution, bla bla bla...".
So I've never used the original one because I replaced it by a reliable and very fast Samsung SD card before setting up my M+.
