In the blurb on the expansion page it says that "the kits were based around the most famous break ever". My first thought would be the Amen break but then i thought maybe it's the Funky drummer. I wonder which one they mean?

most definitely the Amen break since that's pretty much the most used break in DnB.

Wow! I just finished downloading and installing this and so far this is the best expansion that NI has put out yet. The sample projects are freaking awesome. Usually the sample projects suck. I'm impressed and this is what I was waiting for. With the voucher it was like 25 bucks too. Can't pass that up.

It had to happen....shame v2 isnt usable for everyone but only speaking for myself i wont be using v1 once its problems are ironed out

The fact that 2 doesnt overwrite 1 is handy as is...

Man, I totally agree. I don't exactly make/play DnB but often find the kits/sounds very usable for my other styles. However, this pack has more excellent and immediately usable material (for me) then any other expansion I've downloaded. It sounds really good.

So after buying this expansion i have to agree with the OP. I have not seen anything in the expansion that would indicate that it cannot be used with 1.8. If they used the drum synths to make the drum samples they sampled them and made them into samples. I don't see any indication of them using the new fx either. Not sure why NI did this.

I wonder if we will start seeing some Prism presets in future 2.0 expansions.

This expansion has some great drum sounds. Not sure if its my favorite but its a top 5 for sure. The synths lack quite a bit though imo. My favorite expansion by far is still Helios Ray but I primarily make hip hop so Helios, Lazer Dice, Static Friction, Resonant Blaze, and Pulswerk are my favorites but I like them all for different reasons.

Dude, there are quite a few kits that use the drum synths/plate reverb, etc. Might want to check again.

I looked for about 15 minutes I did not see anything not using a sampler.

I'm not near my Maschine now, but the last kit I loaded up used 2 kick drum synths and 2 high hat synths (4 different sounds/pads).

EDIT: I think it was called something like Want 2 Survive Kit.

Also, Reaching Out, So Tek, Inception, and Betrayed kits all use drum synths (maybe more, I just ran through them quickly), but you're right that the vast majority do not.

Exactly. This is what I mean. This expansion makes me right in saying that Maschine is on its way going to be a rompler with 2.0.
This is the worst expansion ever. I was shocked to see no hand programmed beats anymore.

But as soon there is some critic about a product the fanboys coming out of their wholes trying to justify their god, i.e. NI.
Some of them said this expansion heavily uses the new features and effects. Nothing is true about that.

And I wonder if anyone recognize the fact that there are 9 project demos on the Resonant Blaze website but only 7 in the product?!
So normally I would say this is kind of unfair. Thought I would buy exactly the product that is promoted.
But have the same "issue" with Maschine 2.0.

What with Prism, Massive and the Drum Synths NI will be able to make expansions ad infinitum and every so often will bundle eight or nine together for the bargain price of 99 euros. :)

I like the drums in this expansion. I also enjoy romplers as much as I enjoy synths. I think Maschine 2.0 is great. No fan boy here NI is not perfect but I really like their products.

Good finds. Its weird though how maybe a handful of sounds use the drum synths and NI made it appear like the entire library did. I was looking for groups of drum synth kits looking at random kits and trying to find those kits with the synths and had trouble doing so until you pointed it out to me but I did not check every kit either just jumped around thinking it would be a common feature in this expansion. Nope its not common in this expansion at all.

I have to give it to NI, this kit sounds excellent. Helios Ray is still my favorite as far as material, but the programming in this expansion is top notch. I found a couple kicks which were Massive patches and not samples or drum synths. I got lost in just tweaking them. Great stuff.

i am not sure what you are trying to say, but standalone Maschine is still just a sampler/sequencer.
While both a sampler and a rompler rely on acoustic samples the gap between a sampler and a rompler imo is quite large.. the synth architecture that the rompler uses to create a massive palette of sounds from one lousy little sample is the difference.. take a look at the architecture of leading romplers like the motif and fantom then compare what can be done with an instrument sample in one of those compared to Maschine...

? The earlier expansions were all samples. The later ones aren't just sample based content.

Yeah, seriously. Not sure what that dude was talking about. We now have Massive AND drum synth content included in expansions, and we will likely see Prism content now that all 2.0 owners have it.
