This easily possible before this update. Find the expansion sample folders on your hard drive, and drag/drop into AL. viola. The actual samples have always come with the expansions and they've always been neatly organized into folders for easy access....I've even made my own Battery 4 kits and AL drum racks using various Expansion samples, so I'm either missing your point here or missing what added value there with this update. Not trying to be harsh, btw

I can do whatever I wanna do, and its definitely all right. I bought the expansions. Hint hint, the samples for the expansions were always in my shared folder where they are located way before NI did this, and I used those samples in whatever DAW I wanted. Not to mention, why would anyone want to sell a Maschine, it makes a good controller for pads. You got too much illogical hate going on brutha, better to embrace the wonderful bonus NI just gave everyone who "owns" those expansions

I just want the maschine update. Obviously these expansions are to do with NI moving over to audio, the future seems promising.

So which of these packs has a decent number of presets for synths rather than mainly samples and loops? (particularly not interested in anything EDM/Pop)

So what was the total extra space (GB) that they took up?

I think the only new audio we've got is a lot of loops rendered from the group demo patterns we had before, right? It's cool... I guess? Not sure I wanted it though.

indeed.. anyone who wanted exactly this could have done it previously, its just just bloatware* for maschine users so NI need to rethink this and make two versions...
    * "even more bloatware" i should have said.. i started to download the prehear library but as soon as i saw 7.5GB i hit cancel so fast i nearly broke the mouse.

NI are lost.. trying to sell razor blades

If this is what's considered bloatware these all I have to say is keep it coming!

Hopefully someone over at NI is looking and sees that those of us with the Maschine Expansions already would rather be able to pick what we want from the downloads i.e., a check box system that we can omit what we do not need. Mick @ NI any thoughts?

like you say they are just samples without the kits, i use many different banks in my octatrack and always have.

i would hope NI were surely not foolish enough to think only maschine users would use them :D

Asking a new user what part of an expansion should be installed can potentially be very confusing at least for the average person, maybe even for existing customers. IMO a install without Audio Loop's option only makes sense if there is a huge size difference in HD space.
Personally i don't mind it in my desktop but on my laptop i will defiantly delete all the loops if they take too much space. NVMe SSDs are still very expensive.

PS Everyone is making jokes about how much the video needs a de-esser in the comments, that's funny...:D

I think a lot of it was audio previews.

I've updated a few of the expansions and the differences I've noticed are, Maschine tagging the loops making it easier to use in the new audio engine, and the addition of constructions kits + Battery kits.

Outside of that all the expansions are the same. All the presets/samples/loops/kits are still the same.

One thing worth mentioning is the expansions now take up a lot more space. For my 5 expansions it is taking up 8GB of space. In my folders I have
    groups, group previews
    maschine sounds, maschine previews,
    battery kits, battery previews,
    drumsynth sounds, drumsynth previews.
loop native format, loop wav format,
    construction kits,
    + other samples.

Surely there's an easier way to manage these files, some of them must be redundant?

It would be super cool if there was a maschine player for all these expansions.

Anyone know if the expansions sound as good outside of Maschine? For instance.. Would the one-shots sound as good in say a drum rack in Ableton? Maschine processes the sounds and fx right?
