Maschine+ feature requests

Hey team, got Maschine+ a couple of weeks ago and absolutely loving it.
I havent actually installed the software yet, just enjoying the standalone nature of it so far, sampling my other hardware and being able to build tracks in such a fast and hands on manner is soooo good!

i have a few suggestions that i'd love to see:

Add a tempo sync'd LFO option to the Filter effect. Automating the division would be so cool to make really lively sequences.

Add ratcheting, probability and reverse per step. Currently when you hold down a Step in the Step mode you get the Master, Group and Sound tabs on the left screen - meaning there's room for another new tab ('Step' maybe). This could house advanced sequencing options like per-step ratcheting, probability and reverse. I would loooooove this!

Add a VCA effect with an LFO (with sync option). Similar to the filter module but just with volume for tremolo and volume automation fx. This could potentially be built into the gate effect.

Add an auto-pan effect with an LFO (with sync option). Yep, more sync'd modulation, this time over stereo width.

More LFO shapes. i'd love to see more LFO shapes across the various synths and effects that use them, and have a visual representation of them ideally. Saw, reverse saw, Random and noise - even some more unusual ones for creative fun.

Replika Delay ported to Maschine+ Beat Delay is great, but it'd be awesome to see Replika join Raum and Phasis (both of which are fantastic!) for those parts where you really want the delay effect to shine

Reverse should already be possible via step automation.

That could be interesting.

Panning via synced LFO is already possible for the Sampler module. But a panning audio Effect which can be applied to any source would definitely be welcome!

And the capability to modulate the LFO (rate, amount) with another LFO. Love to do that on the Virus.

And the rest of the Mod Pack. And the Crush Pack. And Driver!

 

My best X-mas present would be a Machine+ with the ability to send Program CC on project load.
Each project would be a song of the live playlist of my band. This way, every gear can be set up with just opening one project.

It would be also cool to be able to change the order of the project or a feature to make a 'live playlist' with all the needed projects inside. This way you'd really be free. No computer with Ableton Live needed then for these purposes.

 

- project preview from browser (of course after performing a preview export within the project) so we don't have to recall details exactly just by the title!
- screen saver
- please solve the problem that needs you to do a trick with audio device knob in settings to eliminate crackles (I'm all updated FYI)
- rename samples (PLEASE!) in standalone
- add some vocal FX or Utilities
- Master level direct feedback
- standalone dedicated automation editing within pattern/clips...song...whatever, if possible with lines and curves instead of going just from desktop point by point like crazy

- sampler. "duplicate" button. add option to make duplicated new sample repeating in sync to bpm (1-1/2-1/4 and so on)
- make ability to use in same time "line in" and "mic in" port

 

Also i whant to buy some extra expansions, additional synths. But only for standalone mode.
NI web shop does not provide "addons" information about support for standalone mode.
Even support guy, when i ask could not understand my question.) But placing expansion on internal sd card M+ or on PC with maschine software is not the same.
So add remark for each M+ expansion if it support standalone mode or not.
No, the best is make all expansion and addons working in standalone mode.

 

AFAIK there is only one Expansion Prismatic Bliss which is not available for the M+. And that is indicated on the product page in the compatibility list.

What problems did you run into with other Expansions?

 

My issue was year ago, with Expansion 2018 bundle, for example Caribbean Current.
I tried to place files on M+ sd card different ways with no luck, they loading with errors.
Than i lookd for some current expansions on NI web and see no remarks about standalone mode.

And i decided that Expansions not supported in M+ standalone

What do you mean when you say you tried to place the files on the SD? It should just be on your account. M+ downloads them automatically.

 

Now i understood. Caribbean Current was on another account with maschine mk3 and i just copied folder "Caribbean Current Library" from PC to M+ sd card.
So that way not works?

 

No.

The Expansions are optimized for the M+ and must be installed through the regular software installation process on the M+.

I have close to 50 Expansions on my M+ without problems.

And another one about expansions. There are only one type of additional software can i add to M+ is the Expansions?
And expansions is only drum kits, synth presets, samples. Never is an additional virtual synths or effects?

 

Sort of. You can also add your own (or third party) collections of samples and synth presets. But it is quite inconvenient to do so.

Therefore, a long standing request from Maschine users is to have some kind of Expansion Maker app allowing to bundle and install your own resources identically to official Expansions.

Exactly. Like for different Windows and MacOS versions, synths and effects must be ported and adapted to the M+ platform. That‘s the reason why there is only a selection of them available and 3rd party plugins cannot be used at all.

Therefore it would be nice if NI put more effort into porting existing synths and effects, like Absynth, more Reaktor ensembles (Razor) and Kontakt Libraries.

 

How often do our suggestions from here come to life by NI? )

 

Hello dear Friends of Maschine+.

I would like to suggest a new way of Setting LINK Maschine+ with Pioneer CDJ.
As we know, Maschine+ can be Linked by Ableton Link (wi-fi or ethernet - with an adapter). But, the thing is that Pioneer CDJ use its own System called ProDJ Link. Similar to Ableton Link but with Pioneer Products.
From my Point of View Maschine+ (native instruments) should impruve their Maschine+ software or firmware (I don't know how or what) to set the option of ProDJ Link available in order to be used by Lot's of Djs. Most of us must use the Pioneer SP-16 but what we want is can use our Maschine+.
I Think they will sell more Maschine+ because it is a good Maschine, but incomplete in a typical dj set.

 

1. Add option to save created sample as a file.
2. i`ve attached project, that contains just one sample, a simple sample, but it takes 57% CPU, sometime more, up to (!) symbol on cpu load display.
Sample present in group F. after load project cpu ~25%, after first sample play ~57%.
in my experiment, changing sample type from gate to loop, cpu load reduces to 27%.
There is some bug to fix for NI team?

Also i have issue, when some projects (test) hang on load first time, loaded normally in second try or after loading some other project.
M+ with last FW, but with previous it was the same.
I sent that to support, lets see.

 

Support said: It looks like the project file might be corrupt.
Me:
All that settings i found i set the same in new project like in corrupted project.
No issue in new project.
So if your project are corrupted you most likely never know it, but you will have random headache with your creation.
So i have suggestion for improve M+.
Add option in settings menu to check and fix SD card for errors (equal like i successfully use in Windows - chkdsk /f
Add option in settings menu to check and display project errors (is minimum) and fix (is best) .

Reset M+ settings
chkdsk /f command for sd card fixed some file system errors
removed unnesesary content from Sd card
Now all projects loading without issues.

I think I found a bug and I know how to reproduce it.
I need your help, because it will be a weighty argument for support if it is confirmed here.
(SD card has no errors and m+ settings are reset, latest release)
Bug:
pads 1 and 5 (not only) built-in groups "8-ball Kit" or "808 Kit" or "808 Southern Kit" (not only) begin to sound with distortion (crackles) when pressed shortly. It is better to press quickly several times, since the degree of distortion is not constant, such as 16th or 32nd notes.
How to reproduce:
1. Start a new M+ project in standalone mode
2. Load any built-in kit to Group A (example - 8 balls Kit\808 Kit\808 Southern Kit)
3. check that pads 1 and 5 sound without distortion,
play the 16th or 32nd notes on them
4. Go to group B, load an audio plugin to any pad (for example, take a sample from the microphone or load from the built-in loops via the browser)
5. Change the audio plugin parameter "Engine" to "formant".
6. Go to Group A and make sure that pads 1 and 5 now sound distorted with crackles (play the 16th or 32nd notes on them)
Plz post here feedback.
